Wrickton Hall Dog Boarding

Welcome to Wrickton Hall Dog Boarding Kennels – A home from home retreat for your dog.

Wrickton Hall dog boarding offers a home from home experience for your dog, whether it be for a day, a weekend, or for your annual holiday. We don’t have kennels here at Wrickton, just a farmhouse where your dog(s) stay with me in a relaxed atmosphere in my home.  There is plenty of space for exercise, freedom to play with other dog and plenty of surrounding countryside for pleasant walks. Of course, they will get lots of attention and cuddles are a requirement! They should feel completely at home in their surroundings.

With a Shropshire Council licence for day care and boarding dogs, Wrickton Hall can take up to ten dogs. On contacting Wrickton Hall about either day care or boarding, there is a simple induction process before bookings are accepted and agreed. Once an online booking form is completed an email containing various information is sent out. The induction starts with a Meet and Greet, where the parents get to take a look around Wrickton Hall and where their dogs will be staying, relaxing, playing and sleeping. Dogs also get to meet the resident dogs, Marley a GSP (German Shorthaired Pointer) and Mia a Belgium Tervuren. Providing all goes well at the Meet and Greet meeting, trial visits are organised, starting with a couple of hours and building up to an overnight stay. This is where the parents leave their dogs (in most cases their ‘babies’) here to see how they get on and interact with both the resident and boarding dogs. This gentle induction climatizes the dogs to Wrickton Hall and really helps the dog settle in better when they come for their holiday.

It is all about enhancing the dogs experience and making it as enjoyable as possible whilst they are here.

Spaces are limited and getting your reservations in early are so……..very important. Particularly for PRIME times Bank holidays, Christmas/New Year and half-terms. Once the reservation is in the system, the place is your dog’s unless you cancel.

ABOUT / TESTIMONIALS

I had a crazy conversation with Mick Davies (previous owner of Wrickton Hall) early 2019 (June time) about me taking over Wrickton Hall, as a going concern. I was planning on a complete change of job in August 2020, I had to consider the opportunity NOW (2019 12 months earlier then planned). Well, decision made and here I am, only four months after the conversation. New home, new job….. living the good life. Moving into the countryside and enjoying more space and leaving the rat race behind.

Back then there was much to do to make it my home, but with hard work and determination, Wrickton Hall will be everything I want it to be.

So far so good…….. With a massive, massive thank you to my family who have been golden helping me with lots of hard work since I moved in, helping me to achieve my dream. Without them it would not have been possible.

My family have always be dog lovers….. We started with a golden cocker spaniel called LADY…… you guessed it ‘Lady and the Tramp’ (showing my age now). I then had an Afgan hound, Sir Marmaduke (Duke for short). My sister had Sheba an Old English sheep dog (Dulux advert). Now she has Woody a Lurcher and ‘Arsey’ Archie a Yorkshire terrier with a little attitude. My niece has a Patterdale terrier known to me as ‘Boyfriend’ Ben and Buzz (Woody’s brother). All of which are frequent visitors at Wrickton Hall.

One thing that topped my list of things to do was get/have at least ONE dog of my own. All of a sudden I have two dogs. Mia a Belgium Tervuren and Marley a GSP (German Shorthaired Pointer), both ex-residents/boarders that were gifted to me by their owners (thank you Brian and Kelvin).

I am now a pet first aider with a certificate to prove it. Unfortunately the knowledge for this training has only been called upon a couple of times since gaining it.

Wrickton Hall Dog Boarding is also a members of the Association of Dog Boarders. A great source of reference and help for dog boarding and improving the services offered.

We count our selves so lucky to have found Wrickton Hall dog boarding since moving into the area. It really is home from home. Stephanie is so kind & caring with all of the dogs & has a great system of introducing them so as they are comfortable & more than happy to go with waggy tails. It also means us humans could go away & relax in the knowledge they are having a lovely time too!

Steph is Wrickton Hall, she is what makes it special. A very sensible approach to making the dogs feel familiar and comfortable Literally a home from home. Don’t call this place a kennels, it’s a luxury Holiday Home for social dogs. My young labrador girl has a wonderful time playing with her new friends – she gets so excited going down the driveway! The ethos could not be better, it’s dogs first, second & third. Going through the initial steps to get accepted, you realise that the whole point is to ensure that your dog is both going to happy staying there & will also be safe from aggressive or nasty dogs, which Stephanie would not accept.

Lovely home from home for dogs. Stephanie has really done her best to make sure my rescue dog Joey who is very nervous of being left and of other dogs, has settled into the house with her and the other dogs before we have left Joey there for any period of time. I am going away tomorrow for 4 nights and I can go being fairly certain that Joey will not be too upset at my absence. Stephanie has a process of integration at her boarding house, starting with a quick visit with you, a 2 hour visit on their own, a 4 hour visit and then 1 overnight stay, so even very nervous dogs have generally settled before you leave them for longer periods. Highly recommend.

Our dogs could not have been happier, they came back home for a couple of weeks and then we took them back for a week while we were away, they were so excited to go back which was a great sign. A great place for your dogs to stay with regular updates etc.

Alfie stayed at Wrickton Hall for 12 nights and it was lovely to know he’s staying somewhere that treats dogs like part of the family. Stephanie sent us a pictures and video of him playing with other dogs, and having cuddles. We walked past the gate recently, and he wanted to go down the drive, so I guess that’s giving me his own review!!! I would recommend Wrickton Hall to anyone.

We left our two Red Setters, Keira and Saffron with Steph for two weeks for our first holiday for three years. We were very nervous at first as the dogs hadn’t been away from us in such a long time. We needn’t have worried, Steph made friends with the dogs immediately. We went on holiday and Steph sent us photographs and videos of the dogs throughout our holiday, they seemed to be having a great time. They even ran out of food just before we got back, but Steph fed them with some of her dog’s food. I can highly recommend Steph and Wrickton Hall Dog Boarding.

Our 2 beautiful labs, Edie and Molly are our life and have never been away from us, so taking a 10 day break in the USA was a difficult decision to make. When, by accident I found Wrickton Hall when scrolling the Internet we thought we would give it a try, not knowing at the time what a wonderful place we had found. From the initial phone chat with Steph, to the first 1 hour visit when we were invited into Stephs home to look around, we have nothing but praise for this home from home luxury dog boarding facility. Steph put us and our 2 girls at ease, giving us some fabulous doggy tips, putting our mind at ease by answering our questions and by being totally transparent when it comes to her services and care. After 3 more visits, including 2 overnight stays, we finally dropped our girls off for their 12 night stay and then the fabulous, rest assuring care of our dogs (and us) began! We received updates every day including photos and videos, (even the not so good ones when our 2 began to dig holes in Stephs huge lawns after the moles, oops steph, so sorry!), and it was so lovely to see them as stars of the halls Facebook page for the day, something that made us smile when thousands of miles away. The thought of them running free in the halls beautiful secure gardens, cuddling up in the living room and having regular walks along the country lanes helped us enjoy our time away. We collected our girls today and although they were happy and excited to see us, it was reassuring to see them shower Steph with kisses as we left. Steph, right up to our last day with her was so accommodating as we had a 5 hour delay, she just took it in her stride, she’s one very special lady ❤️ I guess what I’m trying to say is that 5 stars are not enough to rate this little treasure, we are over the moon to have found Steph and will use Wrickton Hall again In a heartbeat. Our girls have had as good a holiday as we have had, and it was worth every penny and more! Thanks so much!

Highly recommend Wrickton and Steph! Rufus enjoyed 2 weeks there and we were posted lots of pictures of him whilst we were away which was very comforting as we had never been apart for so long. We think Rufus was a tad dismayed realising he had to come back home with us! We would only leave Rufus at Wrickton in the future.

I can not recommend Stef at Wrickton Hall highly enough. We were let down by a previous boarder who had been booked for over a year Stef managed to fit us in and although it was quite a distance to travel it was well worth it for peace of mind. our 2 westies had never been in kennels and one of them if very nervous they fitted in perfectly with Stef and she sent me regular updates I think they actually thought they were in their holidays to with the fields and countryside they had to explore thank you stef and your team regards Allison Wheelwright

I would like say how wonderful Stef’s Dog daycare and boarding is at Wrickton Hall! Idyllic setting in the countryside and a lovely “home from home” relaxed vibe so I always feel that our dog Oscar is being looked after as we do – treated like a member of the family. Stef’s home and gardens are a secure and safe environment for her doggie guests where “dogs can be dogs” playing in the garden and snoozing in their lounge. I am also impressed with Stef’s knowledge and care for all her dogs, she makes sure that all the dogs are compatible and time is taken to settle in new dogs with her own and her other guests so they all feel comfortable. When I come to pick up Oscar, Stef always takes the time to let me know how he’s got on and what they have been doing. I have already recommended Wrickton Hall to some friends and I will continue to do so – it really is a “dog holiday” for your furry friend!

So happy to have found Steph and Wrickton Hall! Needed dog boarding facilities, which was something we never saw ourselves doing and enquired here on the recommendation of another dog boarding place, local to us, who couldn’t accommodate our lovely dog. Despite the 50 minute drive each way for us, it is definitely worth it. The set-up is brilliant with a really relaxed home-from-home atmosphere for the dogs, with them free-roaming the downstairs of the house and even sleeping in a lounge on sofas and dog beds. Despite the laid back approach inside the house and gardens, security is key (which was a worry for us beforehand). Steph has an excellent system in place so I felt reassured my baby was safe while I leave her there. We have just completed her second settling-in visit and I love this too – really gives the dog chance to get used to being left, and most importantly, picked up again afterwards! Have to mention Steph is fab! Really loves the dogs and runs things efficiently. She gives feedback on visits, tips for places to visits, and even went above and beyond to help me with my car when disaster struck on one of my visits!

My dogs have never been to kennels but a funeral in Ludlow and possible hot weather meant I had to leave them in day care. I found Wrickton Hall on the internet and booked them in after chatting with Stephanie. From the moment we arrived I felt totally happy at leaving them. We met all the other dogs slowly so Pecan and Dollie would not be overwhelmed and then saw inside the house which was very homely as well as being a dog palace. Everything was done to make the dogs stay as stress free as possible including picking up. I would have happily left them there for longer and despite the older dog having separation issues they had enjoyed their day very much.

Stephanie is just brilliant and really cares about dogs. Wrickton Hall is beautifully kept and well run. I would never put Daisy in kennels and she is part of the doggy household at Wrickton. This is a lovely doggy hotel deep in the country where our dog was free to run and play with her new friends, and sit in the lounge with Auntie Steph in the evening. She was free to run outside in the garden during the day, walked once a day, and she came back home with us happy and tired out. We were able to relax and enjoy our time away without feeling guilty as we knew she was in good hands!

Mabel has now had a taster day and an overnight stay at wrickton hall, both times she came home happy contented and tired from playing with her doggo friends, Stef the owner has been very welcoming making us feel part of her doggy family with photos and updates throughout her stays , Mabel especially loved the paddling pool provided in the heatwave ,Mabel has a 5 day stay booked and I’m sure she will enjoy her time as previously. I’ve got a 9yr old lab cocker cross and a 4mth old lab cocker cross. We’ve got a family event in June and needed to find somewhere for the girls to stay overnight. Wricton Hall had been recommended so arranged to go and meet Steph who owns it. Wow ….. the set up is amazing! Loads of safe space to run around and, best of all, the dogs stay in the house with Steph and her 2 dogs. My girls have been going for weekly day care to get them used to it as my older dog hasn’t been to stay anywhere for the last year and they love it! This is the place if you don’t want your dogs shut in to normal kennels ….. and who does? Cannot recommend highly enough.

We have only left our spaniel boys behind once before and we were not comfortable with them being in kennels. Therefore we were very pleased to find Steph who houses the dogs within her home – therefore meaning the dogs are in home type surroundings and most importantly have human contact. Also the fact that there are other dogs there allows them to ‘become’ dogs again as we probably over humanise them a little bit! Dogs stayed for 2 nights and were absolutely fine when we picked them up , if a little tired , which was a bonus! We would certainly recommend and will be using Steph again.

Myla went to Wrickton Hall Dog Boarding for the first time to stay for three days. There is a video of her playing with one of the other dogs and clearly enjoying herself. Thank you for looking after her and I shall be using them again in the near future.

Our 7 year old dog Thabo loves going to stay at Wrickton Hall. When we arrive he bounds through the gate to greet Steph and looks in eager anticipation who his playmates are going to be! Steph runs her business with a perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness both towards us and Thabo. It is great to see how Steph is always looking for ways to develop the services she offers to dog owners and it makes such a difference for us to go away feeling relaxed and confident knowing that Thabo is being cared for in a safe and loving environment. We would have no hesitation in recommending Steph and her team at Wrickton Hall.

We cannot thank Stef enough for the help and support she has given our family when my uncle was taken into hospital. Mia, his companion and purpose for life, needed to be found a temporary home. Stef has looked after Mia like she was her own. She has offered to take Mia to hospital to see my uncle and taken on all of those day to day responsibilities of owning g a dog. A huge thanks Stef!

My 7 month old German shepherd had his first stay over and I was a little worried about leaving him as he was nervous around other dogs after experiencing two separate incidents of other dogs going for him. My worries disappeared on arrival and I have to say he came back home a completely different boy,more relaxed and confident. A massive thank you and I would most certainly recommend. Now both of us are more confident around other dogs due to his stay and him making loads of new friends. Thanks again and we look forward to the next stay with no worries at all.

We have a rescue dog who is very nervous and we really didn’t want her to go into kennels and be locked in a cage. She stayed at Wrickton Hall and and had a lovely time – you can tell that the owners really care about dogs – this was a home from home and we are really glad that we chose Wrickton Hall.

In the past our dog Luther used to go into kennels whilst we went on holiday but we always found he was so stressed when we came home which was always so hard to watch. So this year we decided to try him in home boarding at Wrickton Hall & I’m so pleased & happy we did as he was a different dog on our return! Think it was all the lovely belly rubs he received! We will definitely be using Wrickton Hall again in the future.

In my opinion there is no better style of accommodation for a dog used to the domesticity of living in a ‘normal’ house. No cage lock – ups and a freedom to roam inside a large house within its own grounds and the added benefit of sharing the set – up with a few other dogs in a wonderful rural setting. I think my dog, Winston, sees it as a dog’s holiday with a ready made friendship group – human and canine. I thoroughly recommend Wrickton Hall Dog Boarding.

Our Briard recently stayed at Wrickton Hall for two nights. It was good for her to play and be around other dogs, including Tony’s own pets. Initially Peeka had a quick visit to the property to see how she got on with the house dogs. Then she progressed to a day visit, leading up to her long weekend stay! It was our preference to gradually get Peeka used to the house and the other dogs as she rarely goes anywhere without us. The home is geared up to looking after dogs and Tony has a good routine in place for each dogs’ needs. You can tell that the family are dog lovers!! We will certainly be booking Peeka in for stays in the future.

My dog recently stayed for 2 weeks whilst we were away. It was so nice to have found such a lovely place for Nala to stay as we didn’t have to worry about leaving her. Nala loved her stay and came home completely knackered from playing so much. Would highly recommend to all pet owners!

For us finding this place was a godsend as it is local and stays open all year. This time our two dogs stayed for one night and in a way I am pleased to say they got up to the same amount of mischief as they get up to at home. Mick was not aware that the had a tendency to escape at home and one of them did exactly the same whilst there – he also didn’t know that they do not go far and come back – but he took it in his stride and he said he knew where she had escaped and would fix it. Another benefit of the location is that it is very quiet with minimal traffic so escaping comes with fewer risks to the dogs and people than in some locations. The dogs get loads of exercise and yes they miss us (they didn’t ear much whilst there) our experience with the kennel in the past is they soon got over it. The dogs appear happy when we collect them and I am comfortable with the environment and the people they stay with. Prices are in line with other kennels and as a dog owner a price you factor in when planning to go away without the dogs. We have already booked for the end of the year and potentially have two more occasions this year when the dogs will be visiting because we are not able to take them with us. Discovering Wricton Hall has meant I have one less thing to be anxious about whilst on holiday. Thank you.

First time we have left our Setter puppy and I was obviously worried as we have never left him at home alone either. I told myself I wasn’t going to phone but around 8pm I just had to call. It went like this… me – so sorry to worry you but I have to know if Dudley is settling in. Mick – yes he’s doing fine he’s sat next to me on the settee. Need I say more! Great place and family, have used since and will do again. Very happy customers.

Best recommendation is that my old, arthritic dog quite happily trots into Wrickton Hall without a single glance back at his anxious owner! Very reassuring, especially after previous unhappy experiences at ‘normal’ kennels.

We left our dog here for the day as we were on holiday and wanted to visit Cadbury’s world. We chose here because we liked the fact that Barney was free to roam indoors and outdoors and was like part of the family. My first impressions on arrival weren’t great as it’s quite run down and untidy but Barney seemed happy to stay and looked happy when we collected him.

Wrickton Hall Home Dog Boarding Prices

Our pet retreat offers a home from home experience for your dog while you’re away. Unlike traditional dog kennels, your pet stays in our home as part of the family. We have plenty of indoor space here at Wrickton Hall, whether your dog wants to curl up by the fireplace, lie on one of the settees or armchairs, or wishes to have time-out in any of our other rooms. Outside there are two large gardens where your dog will have supervised play with other dogs, and plenty of surrounding countryside where they are walked by professional dog walkers.

Prices – January 2023

Boarding – £40.00 (approximately 24 hours)

Day Care – £25.00 (9 hours)

Opening time from 8.30am – 5.30pm. Occassional earlier drop-off and later collection times can be agreed at a small additional charge.

*Due to the current climate prices will be reviewed every three months
