A safe place for all dogs.

We believe all dogs should have the ability to have a good run round off-lead, exploring and having fun – in a safe environment.

That’s why we’ve built a secure, 2.5 acre enclosed dog walking field with fun agility and play equipment just for dogs.

Based just 15 minutes from Penrith, 20 minutes from Ullswater and 25 minutes from Keswick – we’re the perfect place to bring your dogs for an off-lead walk or play session.

Behaviour Focused Training in Penrith

Hi – I’m Carrie. I run Welly and Tails and you might have seen me at the park or at a social sometime.

I’m passionate about helping dogs – especially those that find life a little more challenging.

Having my own dogs with challenging behaviours pushed me on to learn more about dogs and their behaviour. I also volunteered for a foreign dog rescue for around 5 years, helping with settling and street dog behaviour advice (and before that volunteered for a UK rescue for many years).

I’m accredited by the IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers) and am studying towards my degree-level Behaviourist qualifications (amongst many other courses!).

Experience

My experience with dogs started with adopting a very excitable Springer Spaniel over 15 years ago, who had been rehomed for being way too energetic! He had a few behavioural issues, but nothing too serious – and we went on to compete at Flyball with a club in Cheshire.

My dog knowledge took a dramatic turn upwards when I adopted my Romanian Rescue dog 8 years ago. She was born fully deaf and was hugely independent, destructive and not interested at all in training! This brought me to Keith at TTCanines – and I started down a path learning about his Tri-Canine System methodology for how to work with dogs whether they are nervous, reactive, or if you just want a more focused and engaged dog.

This experience and learning carried me through as I helped the Romanian Rescue with behavioural support and settling advice, plus fostering for them.

Taking it further with behaviour

Two years ago, I took in a failed adoption dog who had severe behavioural issues for rehabilitation. He had to be sedated to be transported to me as his adopter was too scared to touch him.

When I got him out of the car at our farm, he was trying to bite me through the crate doors. With Keith’s help, I have rehabilitated him to live happily with us here at the farm. He won’t ever be rehomed as he has some deep-seated, challenging behaviours, but it’s been a steep learning curve with severe reactivity and aggression.

Rudy has taught me a huge amount about behaviour, reactivity and training.
