In 2011 we decided to replace some of our wooden cat cabin with UPVC and we worked with a company who had a prototype of some in their workshop.
Our new cattery block of nine double cabins was built in 2012 and we were the first kennels and cattery in the area to have a completely UPVC cattery block.
We are very happy with how it looks and how easy it is to keep clean. It is cool in the summer, and cosy warm in winter.
In 2015 it was time to replace the remaining wooden cat cabins.
This time we decided to use the company that has built several of our kennel blocks.
These are built from deluxe composite panels. Although a lot more expensive to build than UPVC, composite panels offer better insulation and soundproofing and are more energy efficient to run.
We have twelve of these new cabins. Ten of them are large enough for 1, 2 or 3 cats. The other two are very large for family units, and are big enough for up to 5 cats.
All of the cabins have their own enclosed run attached.
All the rear cabins have thermostatically controlled heating for the colder weather.
The new unit has a weather protection panel at the front which slides in and out.
