Welcome to Waggatails

Providing a personal petsitting service to suit your needs and those of your pet in the Tunbridge Wells area

Your dog or cat is such an important part of your life, but sometimes you need to be where they are not welcome. This is where I can help.

Established in 2005, Waggatails offers different services to solve your pet care problems personally, flexibly and reliably, and to make sure your pet is safe and happy in the process.

Dog Walking
Collected from your house and returned happy and tired, your dog will enjoy at least one hour of exercise in a group.

Dog Day Care
To avoid your dog being home alone too long, they can come to our house and enjoy a walk and play, a snooze, whatever suits their mood.

Dog Home Boarding
While you enjoy a well earned break, your dog can come and live at our house as one of the family.

Cat Visit
I visit your house to look after your favourite feline in the comfort of their own home, much their preferred option.

I’ve got a Cat

I want to know about you

After many years tied to a desk, doing the corporate marketing thing using a smattering of foreign languages, a more family and dog friendly enterprise …

About Me

It began with a dog, a very special dog. His name is Robbie.

After many years tied to a desk, doing the corporate marketing thing using a smattering of foreign languages, a more family and dog friendly enterprise seemed appropriate. In 2005 our beloved Labrador Robbie and I were walking every day in the beautiful countryside around Tunbridge Wells. It seemed that there must be people in the area who would be doing the same thing, but were unable to due to work, holiday or family commitments. Perhaps we could help them out …

So, police checked, vetted by an association of national petsitters and fully insured we launched Waggatails. Taking what I have learned over the years in customer facing roles, organizing events and speaking foreign languages, mixing it with a love of animals and the great outdoors, I aim to provide a personal service to suit you and your pet.

I grew up with yellow Labradors and (predominantly) ginger cats, who were such an important part of our family. I take the responsibility of looking after your pet extremely seriously, as I understand just what they mean to you.

Services for Dogs

Having a dog in your life is a wonderful thing. If you already have one, you know exactly what I mean. What better way to counteract the stresses, strains and speed of modern life than to take time out with your best friend? It is well documented that just stroking a dog can lower blood pressure and that walking in the fresh air is the simplest, cheapest and often most effective form of exercise. But combining dog ownership with the stresses, strains and speed of modern life can pose a problem in itself.

This is where I can help:

Dog Walking
If your dog is happy to be left for a few hours while you are out, then a walk in company could be just the thing to keep them fit, well and entertained. I collect your dog from your home and take them to one of the beautiful areas around Tunbridge Wells for an hour’s walk. Traveling time is not included, so if we’re collecting other friends along the way, your dog could be out of the house for over two hours, watching the world go by from the car, as well as running around in the fresh air. I am insured to walk up to six dogs in a group, but typically walk four at a time, taking into consideration how different personalities combine. Some enjoy plenty of running and playing, others prefer a quieter, trot and sniff style of outing. I will return your dog happy and tired, at least towelled down and, if possible at your house, rinsed off too.

Dog Day Care
If your working day is longer, or perhaps you have a family commitment that takes you away from home for a full day, day care could be the answer. Typically day care runs from 7.30 am to 6.30 pm, usually you would drop off at my house although collection can be arranged for a small additional fee. Any food needed during day care hours should be brought with them, but treats for fabulous behaviour are always to hand! Your dog will have at least one hour’s walk and then relaxation time, which is usually gladly embraced!

Dog Boarding
This is where you get your well deserved holiday (or perhaps you need to be away from home for a few days for work – not so much fun). Your dog can come and stay with us and join in as part of the family, with their own bed, crate or whatever accommodation they are accustomed to (although I do draw the line at having furry friends sleeping upstairs or on the bed!). You would also provide any food and medication they might need during their stay. A trial stay is usually a good idea, for your peace of mind as much as for their familiarisation.

Cats

Cats are wonderful, aren’t they? But they know what they like and they like what they know. They are territorial creatures, so when you have to go away, they prefer to be in their own home.

I can visit your cat while you are away, once or twice a day, depending on your needs. Apart from the priority of feeding your cat, I will also clean all food bowls, change drinking water, clean litter trays and spend time cuddling your cat, if he or she will let me! Sadly, this is not always the case. My own cats are quite selective when it comes to who is granted this particular honour. Food they will take from any passing human.

I will also give your house a slightly more lived in look while you are away, by gathering up post and leaving it out of sight, putting out your rubbish, watering any plants, opening and closing curtains, leaving lights on, and so on.

I will visit you prior to your departure, free of charge, to meet you and your cat, to discuss your cat’s needs in detail and to make sure I know where everything is. While you are away I can keep you updated on how your cat is, so you can relax and make the most of your time away.

Testimonials

“Entrusting your dog to someone else’s care is a big step for most dog owners, but following up a recommendation to try Carolyn is a decision that we’ve never regretted. Leaving our dog with her for the day – or longer – equates to total peace of mind for us: we can go away with the knowledge that he is having the time of his life… Best of all, Carolyn doesn’t just do this because she loves dogs; she’s a professional, and the evidence is clear to see when we pick up a happy, tired hound at the end of the day.”

Hannah, Rusthall

“Our black lab Humphrey has been a member of the Waggatails club since he was a puppy – often on weekdays, the odd weekend, even for his summer holidays. He totally loves it.

Reasons Humphrey loves Waggatails
The best place ever to meet up with pals, chauffeur driven to different country walks, allowed to muck about and get muddy, relaxing in the house with the family, they’ve got cats.

Reasons we love Waggatails
Carolyn is brilliantly reliable and lovely, Humphrey is always embarrassingly happy to arrive, we have complete and utter trust that he’ll be well looked after, he goes straight to sleep when he gets home, we get emails from Humphrey@Waggatails when we’re away and missing him.”

John, Harriet and Humph, Groombridge

“Carolyn has been looking after our 3 year old cocker spaniel, Islay, since she was 10 weeks old. I truly don’t know what we’d do without her support; we both work full time and with a lively spaniel to wear out it’s invaluable to have someone who we trust and who Islay loves being with, who can provide her with the exercise she needs. Whenever we go on holiday Carolyn also has Islay to stay and we feel so relaxed knowing that she’s in a place where she’s happy and treated as one of the family. I’m sure sometimes Islay has a better holiday than us!”

Neil and Liza, Speldhurst

“Carolyn looks after Daisy, my elderly, almost deaf and adorable cat, when I am away. Not only does Daisy look very relaxed when I return, but I am given a detailed report of every visit and what she has eaten, what she was doing etc. I receive text messages telling me how Daisy is doing and I couldn’t have more peace of mind. Carolyn is the next best thing to me being at home!

Carolyn, it’s not possible to put into words just how valuable you are!”

Carolyn, Fordcombe

“My name is Sam and I am a much-loved two year old Golden Retriever. Since I was four months old, Carolyn has looked after me while my family is at work. This is like a second home to me, where I get everything I need: a family home, a lovely long walk every day in the woods, plenty of affection and kindness, treats and other dogs to play with. My owners, Jean and Malcolm, are very grateful to Carolyn and they would highly recommend Waggatails to anyone who requires excellent and reliable care for their dogs.
