Animals of various shapes and sizes have always been a part of our home life – Simon’s childhood was dedicated to breeding, showing and training his Mum’s Golden Retrievers and British Blue Cats; and Cathy owned a variety of rabbits and guinea pigs and walked all of the neighbours dogs until her parents finally caved in when she turned 11yrs and bought her first dog, ‘Rusty’ the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Since 1999 we have owned and bred Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. Puppies are occasionally available to approved homes.
We are now owned by four Chesapeakes, our two cats and an ever growing flock of Free Range Chickens.
Verstone Kennels & Cattery was first licenced for general boarding of dogs and cats in 1994 by South Lakeland District Council. Current SLDC licence number is AB022.
We purchased the business in November 2003 having previously spent over 5 years managing a boarding
and rescue kennels near Kendal.
The Kennels and Cattery are licenced with South Lakeland District Council and all facilities are inspected annually.
We pride ourselves in being a small, intimate, caring establishment. Our limited capacity ensures that each pet receives individual care during their stay. All breeds are welcome.
A well fed dog is a happy dog.
Typically all of our guests are fed twice daily. This fits in conjunction with their twice daily walks and playtime, forming the basis of their daily routine.
We provide the same high quality pet food to our guests which we feed our own pets – Burns, Chudley’s or Nature’s Menu. These come in a range of flavour varieties.
We appreciate that some guests will prefer wet foods and this is also catered for.
Alternatively you may provide your own preferred brand of food or treats.
If your pet requires any specific dietary attention please inform us at the time of booking.
Large breeds are fed from raised feeding platforms to aid digestion.
Special bowls are available for long eared breeds.
