Treetops is a family run business large enough to be professional but small enough to care.

We are located on the outskirts of Derby set in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside with easy access from Derby, Alfreton, Ashbourne, Belper, Ripley,and Ilkeston. We also regularly have customers that come from much further a field that have been specially recommended to us and may be visiting local attractions such as Alton Towers or travelling from a different area and using East Midlands Airport.

Treetops has been under the same ownership for over 25years and you can therefore be assured that your pets are in experienced and capable hands.

Our kennels and cattery occupy the same space as our home and in many respects there is no distinction. We are always close at hand to cater for your pets every need and able to create a home from home boarding environment.

At Treetops our business philosophy is quite simple, we all enjoy what we do and care passionately about your pets in our care. Every member of our dedicated and well trained team loves working with animals and considers themselves privileged to be looking after such wonderful guests. We hope our customers recognize our dedication and can see how happy their pets are when they stay with us. Yes, we believe a wagging tail and an excited arrival is testimony indeed to the quality of our care and the reason why many customers continue to entrust us with their beloved pets year after year.

Dog Kennels

Our kennels are newly refurbished and offer the very latest in contemporary kennel design providing a warm cosy place to sleep in the winter and keeping dogs nice and cool in the summer. Every kennel enjoys an exclusive outdoor pen which can be accessed throughout the day and when they are not playing in one of our exercise paddocks.

The contemporary design of our new luxury kennels means that dogs are in an environment more akin to home with glass doors, sleek clean surfaces, and temperature controlled under floor heating.

Of course a kennel is just a building without the excellent five star service, love and attention we extend to all our canine guests.

Day Crèche for Dogs, Derby

Dogs are by nature a sociable, pack animal and should never be left alone for lengthy periods when they can become noisy and even destructive. This can in turn lead to tension with neighbours and costly damage to your home.

It is our opinion that such behaviours are understandable and can be avoided. Responsible parents would never contemplate leaving young children at home so why take chances with your dog?

The reality of modern living invariably means that we have to go out to work and this can limit options where responsible pet ownership is concerned.

Day boarding at our day crèche can offer a solution and means your dog will be cared for all day, and able to play with other dogs. You also have peace of mind knowing they are happy and safe, not home alone.

Day boarding at our day crèche can also work out a lot more economical than you think. (See Useful Information for our charges). We do not charge by the hour but a full day at our day crèche can cost much less than a dog walker or home visit and you do not need to consider home key security and the effect it can have on your insurance.

The day crèche is already popular and places are therefore limited.

Some of our customers bring their dogs every day while others may use this facility just one or two times per week. Day boarding is also used as a means of familiarising your dog with the kennel environment or quite simply there are times when you need to do human stuff and your dog would be better doing dog stuff with us.

Without doubt the best advert for our day care services are the dogs themselves it is a delight to see them each morning, excited and pulling on their leads to get in.

We know that it is impossible to suit every one with our opening times but we have tried to cover the average working day and our day crèche is open every day (Monday to Friday) with quick and easy drop off from 7.30am with the last pick up by 6.00pm.

Accommodation For Cats

Our purpose designed cattery provides multi-level living for your cat with interesting platforms connected by ramps. All our cabins provide a light and airy space for the summer months but are in a fully central heated building meaning they are cosy and warm in the winter months. All our cabins have access to outside balconies through a standard cat flap enabling them to get fresh air when they wish. Our Cat cabins are equipped with scratching pads and soft cosy beds, litter trays, feed and water bowls are also all supplied by us along with the cuddles and attention your cat demands.

All that you need to bring is your cat in a secure cat box and the current vaccination card.

All our cat pens are large enough for two cats as long as they are from the same household and they are compatible to share.

As with the kennels, we are able to cater for any special needs and dispense any medications if required , but it is essential for any special needs to be discussed with a member of our team in the first instance so that a special care plan can be formulated in advance of their stay.

All our kennels and our cattery are fully heated in the Winter months but nice and airy during the Summer and provide indoor and outdoor accommodation for your pets. This is complimented with discreet background music to maintain a peaceful, homely atmosphere. Our kennels have been designed with socialization in mind to ensure that all our guests never feel isolated or alone, after all most dogs are a social pack animal and enjoy being in the presence of others.

The same philosophy is applied to daily exercise where dogs are free to play or roam in our grounds in small, compatible social groups. We do of course recognise that some dogs are more sociable than others and we never put any dog in a situation that they do not want to be in or set up a situation that could potentially lead to some form of conflict.

Treetops is licensed and inspected by local authorities and has been awarded the top five star rating for welfare standards.

Useful Information

Boarding Charges (Per Day) Effective from April 3rd 2023.

Applied to all stays commencing on or after 4th April 2022

* All multiple occupancy rates apply ONLY to pets from the same owner/household, are considered by Treetops to be fully compatible to share accommodation, and have booked on the same boarding contract.

Discounts can be negotiated for extended boarding (5 weeks or more) but not in peak season.

Mondays to Fridays 9am to 10.30am and also 3pm to 6pm
Saturdays and Sundays 9am to 12noon only (closed weekend afternoons)
Bank Holidays 9am to 10.30 only

Please note that our day crèche times and Christmas opening hours are different to the above

Pet Taxi Service

We also offer a pick-up and delivery service for dogs and/or cats coming to us for a break. This is mainly intended for customers without their own means of transport and is a charged service the cost of which will vary.

Vaccinations

Our kennels and cattery are both fully licensed and compliant with local authority regulations which means all cats and dogs must be fully vaccinated. We do need proof that your pets vaccinations are

Up to date each time they come into kennels in most cases this is achieved with the vaccination record card provided by your vet.

Viewings.

We think it is important for you to come and see for yourself where your precious pet will be staying and also who will be looking after them when you are away. Viewings are therefore by appointment only. This is simply so that we can free up someone from their dog/cat duties to show you around and answer any questions. Viewing appointments are made within our normal opening hours but are better for us week day afternoons or late mornings at weekends
