At Telford Pet Services we go further. All our walks and services are about adding enrichment through games and training so your pet is both mentally and physical exercised.

One-To-One Walks
Group Walk Adventures Not Just A Walk!
Dogs are sociable animals and enjoy going out with friends. In a maximum group of 4 your dog will travel in an individual kennel/crate within our vehicle as we take them to local open spaces where they can run, sniff, look for squirrels, and interact with each other in a safe and stimulating environment.
Dogs are grouped according to their personality and we socialise them carefully so they can become calm, confident and polite with both other dogs and humans. We also ensure the dogs received mental stimulation and we play games like ‘find it’ and other scent and enrichment games. It’s unlikely you will meet us pounding pavements as we are more likely to be deep in woodland or down a rabbit hole enabling your dog to use all their senses and for them to get the most out of their time with us.
The result – a happy content dog which has had his physical, mental and behavioural needs met, who is more likely to snooze the afternoon away and be ready for cuddles when you get home.
Cat Visits
Would you like to have total peace of mind while you are away, knowing your beloved cats are safe and happy in their own home? Cats are naturally solitary animals, with their own territories and routines, and having a cat sitter visit your cat in their own home allows them to express their natural behaviours in their safe environment, allowing you to relax.
Each cat is an individual, and we love getting to know them all! Whether you have sky cats – perching high, hiding on top of wardrobes and loving to pounce as things fly past through the air or earth cats, hiding behind sofas, tucking themselves away in small places and leaping out as their victim scurries past.
Every cat has these desires in different proportions – and we take the time to work out each cat’s individual likes and dislikes, then we invite them to play with us!
If your cat prefers to keep their distance, that’s fine! We will leave them to it, while being open if they want to approach. We save food preparation until just before we leave as sometimes this can entice an outdoor cat inside, or tempt a shy cat to join us on the sofa. Although we prefer to spend time with each cat in our care, if your cat is independent this can be accommodated.
Whether your cat is a young kitten, or 20 years old, we have experience of the correct care while you are away and can administer medication if required.
Puppy Visits
Bringing a puppy home is an exciting and rewarding time but taking care of such a young dog has its challenges.
As you go back to your normal routine, you may need help to keep up all your good work with toilet training as well as provide that mid-day feed, play time and companionship.
At twelve weeks of age most puppys can be left for 3-4 hours in a suitable environment. For this reason we structure our puppy visits before and after our dog walks at approximately 10am and 2pm. During our visit we take your pup outside to toilet, do basic training, play games and feed as required.
As your puppy grows we will take him on short walks to allow him to socialise with the people, dogs and familiarise himself with everyday sights and noises such as cars, trucks, horses etc. At the age of around six to seven months we begin to move your pup onto the group walks so he can begin his adventures.
To reinforce good behaviour and training we rarely have more than one dog under 18 months of age on each group walk.
Exotic Pets
It goes without saying that we are insured, DBS checked, canine first aid trained and have both completed canine behaviour courses, we also hold animal transportation licenses with DEFRA, all things you would expect from the professional service provider.
Meet the Team
Julie
Julie met Keely many years ago when she needed a dog walker for her two blue merle Collies, Logan and Ziggy. Julie has a BSc (hons) in Psychology and a BA in Social Work and her early career lead her to managing services in Health and Social Care for people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and autism. She was quite envious that Keely got to spend time with her dogs during the day whilst Julie was primarily stuck in the office behind a computer managing people services.
Julie says “Whilst I have adored working with all my clients in Mental Health, Autism and Learning disability services I knew my true heart lay with working with animals, especially dogs. During this time I had been a weekend volunteer dog walker at Hilbrae Stray Dog kennels for 10 years, out in all weathers and loved it dearly. When the opportunity for redundancy arose I jumped at the chance to carve a change in vocation. I worked briefly as an Assistant Manager (Admin) at Dogs Trust, then became a supervisor at Hilbrae Stray dog kennels. It was physically hard work but oh so rewarding”.
A chance phone call led to Julie becoming a partner within the business in 2017 and they haven’t looked back.
Julie says ‘through my volunteering and subsequent employment at Hilbrae I have experience of a variety of breeds of dogs, from large to tiny, and also different temperaments; boisterous, timid and reactive dogs. I am an agility competitor; I compete with my own dogs at agility and also Monty one of our clients dogs. I have been formally a member of ‘Absolutely Barking Agility Addicts’ and now a member of ‘Ready to Run Agility UK’.
Because of my love of agility, and specifically seeing how much the dogs enjoy and gain from it, I have set up Woof n Ready Agility to provide an absolute beginners agility class in the evening. This is in conjunction with the already established ‘Ready to Run’ agility club.
My breed of choice is (obviously!) collies, I have had 4 before these two and also been privileged to have a rescued Staffie too. He was such a character! 6 out of my 7 dogs have been rescue dogs, I am therefore a staunched advocate for ‘Adopt don’t Shop’. All animals, and animal rights & welfare are my passion, so at the weekends when I am not competing at agility with my two you can often find me volunteering for various animal welfare charities or vegan outreach services.
Wendy
As our service grew and developed we decided to begin to employ a small staff team.
Following a recommendation from a friend Wendy joined us 2 years ago. Previously Wendy has worked at Telford College TCAT in various admin roles. Wendy says “My main hobbies are walking and I often take an early morning walk up the Wrekin. I enjoying time away with my partner in our campervan, music festivals, art galleries and cooking vegan food. I am not a fan of football, musicals or reality TV and I abhor cruelty of any kind to animals. I have been a pet Mum to cats and dogs but my current pets are two guinea pigs who live in my house”.
Wendy says “Since working with Telford Pet Services I have completed my Pet First aid Certificate and am proud to have been awarded a distinction in a Canine Communication Diploma. This job is perfect for me, it ticks all the right boxes, I have always wanted to work with animals, I love being in the great outdoors, walking. I have met some lovely dogs so far, from oldies to puppies, lively and sedate, big and small.
