Based in Barrhead, Glasgow, Taylor Made Activities Ltd is a friendly and fully insured Dog Home Boarding*, Dog Walking, Dog Day Care and Pet Home Visit service that covers Barrhead, Neilston and surrounding areas.
Our Dog Day Care offers a home from home for your dog, playing in our home and garden and joining in group walks with other boarders and walkers. You will normally drop your dog off in the morning, and collect again in the evening, though depending on location and timings we may be able to do the collecting and dropping off. Dog day care is ideal for those with a busy work schedule, or for days out shopping or other engagements.
Our Dog Walking Service provides group walks, with your dog being collected from your home and taken for an hour long walk before being dropped off again. Collection and drop off is included in the price.
Our Pet Home Visit Service offers a visit to your home to meet the needs of your pet – be it a cat, dog, hamster or fish – whether they need feeding, medication, some fresh air, or simply some company – Pet Home Visits are individually tailored to meet the needs of your pet.
About
My name is Andy Taylor and I live in Barrhead on the outskirts of Glasgow with my wife Anna and our lively cockapoo, Angus.
In 2011 I retired from the Army, having served 24 years with the Royal Engineers. My plan, as the end of my service approached, was to step and straight into a Health and Safety role, either in the UK or Abroad…but what they say of the best laid plans is certainly true, and following a back injury whilst still serving I spent most of my early retirement in agony on my living-room floor – unable to walk properly, never mind able to take on any sort of employment.
Anna was working full time and as time went on the long hours alone became harder to cope with. In her infinite wisdom Anna decided that I needed a companion, and in March 2012 our gorgeous chocolate cockapoo boy, Angus, entered our life… A true tonic indeed.
Since then I have undergone a successful operation on my back and Angus has been at my side during my rehabilitation – accompanying me on short walks, and as he has grown, and my mobility improved, on longer daily walks in and around
Barrhead, Neilston and surrounding areas.
It was during my walks with Angus that the idea of dog walking began to grow on me. On my walks I often spoke to other dog walkers, who like myself share a love of dogs and the outdoors, and I soon realised that Dog Walking was the perfect career choice for me – with a move to a large detached house only 6 1/2 miles from Glasgow Airport – with enclosed gardens and plenty of additional living space – came the addition of Home Boarding*, Dog Day Care and Pet Home Visits all under the umbrella name Taylor Made Activities.
That was all in 2012. Since that time Taylor Made Activities has become Taylor Made Activities Ltd and expanded to include two full time employees.
Dog Walking
All walks are group walks and last an hour- sometimes a little longer. Dogs are transported from your home, or elsewhere by arrangement, and the one hour does not include travel time. Walking sessions take place in the morning, and afternoon.
PERFECT RECALL IS NOT ESSENTIAL. I have often found that a dog whose recall is not perfect will often follow the lead of another dog that has. This can sometimes make the difference between a dog remaining on a lead or being allowed to run off the lead. But as with every dog, this will be judged on an individual basis and only allowed with your written permission. Any off lead walking will be introduced on a gradual basis.
At the end of the walk your dog will be rubbed down with a towel – or if particularly dirty, and dog permitting, will first have legs, paws and underside washed down.
Before any new dog is taken on, a meet and greet is carried out during which time I will meet your dog, have a chat about your requirements and come to agreement on cost and timings.
Day and Evening Care
Normal timings for day care are drop offs from 7 am onwards and pick up by 6pm – though as with any service offered by Taylor Made Activities this is flexible and will be tailored to your individual needs.
Pet Home Visits
For this reason we provides a Pet Home Visit Service.
This service is available for dogs, but also other pets such as cats, fish, hamsters etc. and will be tailored to the individual needs of your pet. We even have a family of chickens on our books!
Prices:
Prices quoted are based on one dog but discounts are offered for two or more dogs from the same home – 1/2 price for the second dog.
I have experience of caring for dogs with specialist medical needs – so if your dog has any special requirements at all, please contact me and we can have a chat – whether it be administration of medicine, special diet or exercise requirements.
