Welcome to Sundown Kennels

Sundown Kennels is a long established boarding kennels and cattery on the banks of the river Wyre. We have been looking after your cherished pets for nearly 20 years, giving them a welcome home from home while you are away.

Based on nearly 7 acres of land there is plenty of room for fun, play and exercise and the large spacious kennel units give a roomy feel whilst indoors. All kennels and cat units have outside runs so there is plenty of fresh air to be had.

While with us your pets will receive regular attention with dogs getting at least 2 periods of exercise a day and plenty of human attention all day.

We are mindful of the stress that some animals feel when in boarding kennels and we endeavour to monitor them daily and deal promptly with any signs of anxiety. Licensed for 49 dogs and 18 cats we can find space within the kennels to home even the most nervous pooch.

We here at Sundown Kennels and Cattery, care for all our guests like they are our own so you know while you are taking a break your pet is being looked after.

Sundown Kennels and Cattery

Sundown Boarding kennels and Cattery is perfect for day care, short stays or longer-term holiday bookings.

We are under new ownership and Sundown is run by Pet loving owners, who have always had cats and dogs themselves, and professionally qualified staff.

We are an established Boarding Kennels and Cattery based on the lovely Fylde Coast, close to Skipool Creek and surrounded by lots of open fields. Sundown is ideally situated for Poulton-le-Fylde, Blackpool, Cleveleys, Fleetwood, Lytham St. Annes, Kirkham, Garstang, Lancaster and the surrounding areas.

All of our substantial Kennels have outside runs for your Dogs so they get plenty of fresh air and we offer either single or double rooms.

Each Kennel is individually heated and your dogs are guaranteed to be loved and played with by one of our friendly staff. At Sundown we ensure your pet enjoys their holiday as much as you and the safe, secure and caring environment we provide along with regular walks and plays ensures this.

The kennels are also fully CCTV’d and Fire alarmed for added safety.

We now offer services where you can check into see your dog through our CCTV cameras and also book extra walks.

Kennels

Our on-site dog grooming service has also now been fully launched with 2 City & Guild Qualified Dog Groomers here to ensure your dog is Pawsitively Pampered.

You can book for your Dog to be fully groomed, clipped, styled, washed with their ears, nails and eyes cleaned upon your return from as little as £20. Alternatively we can bath, brush and clip your dog’s nails from just £10.

The dog grooming is also available even if your dog isn’t staying here.

Cattery

Our Cattery is located away from the kennels and again offers large rooms with outside areas. Each room has its own individual outside area which your cat can access at all times, allowing your cat the freedom to go outside when it chooses. The rooms all contain comfortable beds, heated mats and scratch posts to keep you cat entertained.

Opening Times

Our opening hours are daily from 9am until 4pm, except Wednesday when we close at 12pm and Sunday when we open at 10am. We are soon launching our Doggy Daycare service which means we will open Mon to Fri from 8am until 6pm with Saturdays 9am until 4pm and Sundays 10 until 4pm.
At Sundown you can enjoy your holiday safe in the knowledge that you pet is being well loved and cared for by experienced and professional staff.

1 Dog £12.50 per day
2 Dogs from the same household £21per day
3 Dogs from the same household £29 per day

A waiver must be signed when dogs are sharing.
WE WILL NEVER HOUSE 2 DOGS FROM DIFFERENT HOUSEHOLD TOGETHER.

Vaccination Requirements

Owners must provide a valid certificate to show your dog has been vaccinated against Parvovirus, Distemper, Hepatitis and Leptospirosis. In addition we require that your dog has been vaccinated against “Kennel Cough”. Newly inoculated dogs or renewal inoculations must be given at least 7 days before arrival.
UNFORTUNATELY WE CANNOT ACCEPT YOUR PET WITHOUT A VALID CERTIFICATE.

Kennel Units

All our units have a separate outside run so that your pet has space to move around freely and can get plenty fresh air. Heating is via heat lamps and central heating. Music is played all day to remind them of home.

Food

We provide a chicken and rice complete or a meat mixer as standard. Feeding will be twice a day but if you have a pattern you would like us to keep then please inform us on arrival. You are also welcome to bring your own dog food if your pooch as special dietary requirements.

Bedding

We will provide plastic beds and fresh bedding. This bedding will be changed regularly and as often as necessary. Should muddy paws make a mess then it may even be changed twice daily.

If your dog has a favourite bed/blanket feel free to bring this along if it will make their stay more comfortable.

Exercise

Your loved ones will be exercised in the mornings and evenings on either hard standing or in our large grass paddock subject to weather conditions. Extra exercise can be booked at £3.50 per ½ hour which will consist of ball play or activity. THIS WILL NOT BE WITH OTHER STRANGE DOGS.

Bathing service

We can offer a nice warm shower and blow dry service for your dog the day before pick-up. This is £8 and can be booked on arrival.

Medication

If your dog requires medication this will be an extra £1 per day regardless of how often the medication is needed.

Vet

Where possible should your dog require it we will contact the vet details you gave us when booking. We have 24 hour access to a local vet. In the unlikely event of illness your dog will receive veterinary attention.
