Located near Ilkeston between Derby and Nottingham. We run a dog grooming school and offer dog grooming courses for the complete beginner up to advanced groomers. We work with International Certified Master Groomer UK (ICMG) and City and Guilds. We strive towards high standards in dog grooming and giving the learner a great friendly experience
Certified Professional Groomer combined with City and Guilds Level 2 Dog Grooming Assistant
This course runs for 20 weeks, one day a week, and is ideal for people wanting to begin working within the dog grooming industry. The course covers a range of skills including:
Bathing and Dying Dogs
Clipping and Styling Dogs
Hand Stripping Techniques
Nail trimming
Ear Plucking
Anal Glands
Canine behavior and handling
Dog skin and hair
Canine diseases
Canine First Aid
Canine Parasites
Grooming Cats (knowledge and understanding)
Salon sanitation and disinfection
Professional grooming and ethics
The grooming business
The Kennel/Pet trim
Care of the groomer
Groomer Liability insurance
Canine Anatomy
Canine hair growth
Scissor and blade care
Course fees are £4200.00 which includes a scissor set and grooming shirt which are yours to keep worth approximately £140.00
You are required to join ICMG and pay exam fees directly to them for the amount of £399.00 this also includes your study guides for the qualification.
There are practical and written exams at the end of the course.
On successful completion of the course you become a Certified Professional Groomer and can put the letters CPG after your name.
You can also choose not to combine the City and Guidls Level 2 and complete the CPG on its own which reduces the fees to £3100.00 plus your ICMG fee of £399

Dog Grooming Taster Day
We offer Dog Grooming taster days to allow people to come along and see how to train to become a dog groomer. These are a great idea for people who want to see if dog grooming is something they want a career in.
The cost of the day is £120
Time 10 til 3pm
The City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Dog Walking is ideal if you want to begin working in the animal care industry and want to learn the skills required for walking dogs, or for people already working within the industry to gain a Certificate of Technical Competence. The course runs at Sue Oliver Dog Grooming Studio in Derbyshire and is designed for candidates aged 16+
You will gain practical skills and knowledge that are important for working as a competent dog walker. This qualification could also allow progress to further learning and training in this area.

There are no other recognised qualifications for dog walkers at this level, therefore this qualification demonstrates to both employers and public that the candidate has the practical skills and knowledge required of a professional dog walker.

The City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Pet Sitting is ideal if you want to begin working in the animal care industry and want to learn the skills required for being a competent Pet Sitter, or for people already working within the industry to gain a Certificate of Technical Competence. The course runs at Sue Oliver Dog Grooming Studio in Derbyshire and is designed for candidates aged 16+
Pet Sitting can involve looking after a wide range of animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, exoticss, chickens, sheep and goats amongst many more.
In order to take this qualification, the candidate will need to hold a Level 2 qualification in animal related area.

Task A: Roles and responsibilities of a pet sitter
Task B: Devise client information sheets
Task C: Behavioural assessment and signs of health and ill health in an animal
Task D: Potential problems or emergencies whilst pet sitting

Canine First Aid Course
We offer Canine First Aid courses for anyone wanting to establish an understanding in the basic steps of first aid and CPR for dogs.
The course runs one a one to one basis for 2 hours.
