Hi, I’m Jess, an animal enthusiast and the proud founder of South Coast Dogs!
I live in Poole with my partner Alex, our cat Harley and our dog Dora and for the past 6 years I have been fortunate to have worked for the RSPCA caring for animals in one of their rescue centers. however, I decided to take a leap of faith earlier this year and dive head-first into the world of self-employment!
For as long as I can remember I have had a strong passion for caring for animals. Whilst my friends were playing with babies and pushchairs as children, I was the little girl who had much more interest in caring for her toy animals.
My passion for animal welfare only grew stronger as I got older, and after volunteering at several different animal sanctuaries around the world whilst traveling, it seemed only natural that the RSPCA was a perfect fit for me.
I genuinely love all animals, but there is just something special about dogs that has always drawn me to work closely with them and have them in and around my life.
I have always felt a strong connection and understanding with dogs, which has led me to primarily work with them at the RSPCA, spending all of my days walking, training, enriching and rehabilitating all breeds of dogs from Chihuahuas and Pomeranians to Bull breeds and Great Danes.
My own dog Dora is an American Bulldog cross and a rescue dog herself after she was the victim of ear cropping as a puppy. I am so pleased that my partner Alex & I were able to rescue her 2 years ago and give her a forever home, as she is truly a gentle giant and adored by all who meet her.
Being a large breed dog it was really important that Dora walks well both on and off the lead as well as being well mannered and socialized with other dogs. Guiding and training with Dora through her puppy months into adolescence has been fantastic. It is truly thanks to her that my idea for South Coast Dogs was born!
Are you going out for the day, evening or perhaps longer? Worried about your home and pets? With us heading into the festive season this may be a service that you require for an upcoming party or day out? In home pet sitting allows your pets to remain in familiar surroundings if you’re reluctant about using kennels or catteries. If you have very young or elderly pets or a pet that struggles with separation anxiety? Then this service is ideal. For dogs walks can be provided for an additional cost depending on the length of walk required and number of dogs in the home that require a walk. Prices may vary depending on your location, the length of time you require my services and if you require any extra enrichment or exercise for your pet. Drop me a message on the ‘Lets Chat’ box on my home page if you would like further information or quote.
Our group walks are designed so that your pooch can be thoroughly exercised safely whilst developing (or retaining) excellent social skills and ‘dog manners’. I have a lot of experience in various aspects of behaviour, canine body language, recall training and other basic commands which will help to ensure your dog is fully enriched, stimulated and happy on their walk.
