I have had a passion for working with animals from a very young age, I grew up with the full array including exotic fish, cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs and ponies! My passion for dogs was ignited by Peggy the Afghan Hound and continued with a variety of different dog breeds over the years.
In 2011 I began my dog training journey attending courses, seminars, conferences and assisting with pet dog training classes. Prior to training full time I ran HoundsLand Doggy Day Care, where we looked after a multitude of different dog breeds giving me invaluable practical experience of dealing with dogs of all breeds and personalities!
In 2017 I qualified as a pet dog trainer, gaining full membership to the Professional Association of Canine Trainers and in 2020 I qualified with the Gundog Training Academy. I am also a qualified bronze level instructor with UK Sniffer Dogs.
As an accredited member of the GTA I compy fully with their code of practice which can be found here https://www.gundogtrainersacademy.co.uk/CODE-OF-PRACTICE
In 2017 I brought home Louie, the crazy red working cocker spaniel, he has taught me so much about the breed and has fed my passion to focus on gundog training. I am passionate about helping new puppy owners to give their dogs the best start through building strong relationships with positive training and games. Louie taught me the importance of building the foundations for a happy and content working gundog living in a pet home. We have achieved Distinction in our Grade 1, 2 & 3 Gun Dog Club Assessments and we also partake in beating during the season.
In 2020 Evie the Springer Spaniel joined the team, she beats, picks up and stands on the peg with Emily, a truly versatile dog! She has achieved a distinction at Grade 4 and will be taking her Grade 5 soon.Â
Emily then decided it was time to get a Labrador and brought home Sage in 2021, Sage is now out dogging in and picking up regularly and achieved a distinction at Grade 1 & 2. Emily will be adding to her labrador contingent this Winter!Â
Emily also has Ted, a re-homed cocker who beats at her Partners shoot.Â
We want to help you make the right start to ensure a life time of happiness by teaching our dog’s life skills to lay the foundation for a loving lasting relationship.
Bringing home a new puppy can be both exciting and daunting, we are here to help at all stages offering pre-puppy advice through to advanced puppy training.
We can advise you on the key skills to teach your gundog puppy using play and rewards. Our puppy classes are open to all breeds of dog as we believe key puppy principles apply to all, these classes are suitable for dogs under 6 months old and who have had all their vaccinations.
Our classes are held in small groups in our outdoor training field.Â
At our puppy classes we focus on empowering you, the owner, with knowledge to help shape your puppy into becoming a joyous member of the family who can be calm, listen, say please, accept handling, be confident and follow boundaries both at home and in the real world.
Gundog breeds make fabulous family pets and our classes are designed to provide you with the knowledge of how to raise and train them to adapt to the life that you live.
Our group classes are perfect for the pet gundog and are designed to enhance your relationship by using games and exercises which fulfil their natural instincts. The classes will give you all the knowledge to learn about what makes your gundog tick and how to get the best out of them.
This course consists of 7 sessions (approx 1.5 hours), the first of which will be a theory only sit down and chat, and this is the foundation we will work through on the course.  Â
The remainder of the course (6 sessions) will be working with your dog at our training venue, to develop skills for the ultimate recall and loose lead walking! Our approach is building a strong connection through reward based games and training exercises so that your dog thinks that you are the most important thing when out walking and not the environment around them.
We will explore what motivates your dog and how we can use this to help in our training.Â
This course is suitable for any breed and age of dog.
