Welcome to Puppy School North Cotswold
Puppy School North Cotswold provides a comprehensive programme which has been carefully designed to take you through all the obedience basics giving you a good foundation for life with your new puppy.
Puppy School is founded by APBC registered behaviourist and author Gwen Bailey. Your tutors regularly attend seminars and conferences run by leading trainers/behaviourists in order to keep up to date with the latest science behind animal behaviour and training.
The puppy training exercises gradually progress from easy to more complex over a period of six weekly sessions lasting one hour. We help you to build on your puppy’s understanding and reliability each week.
We want to give your puppy the best start possible so we educate puppies to have good manners, to be friendly with adults, children and other puppies and to respond to basic commands.
Your experienced Puppy School Tutor will be on hand throughout the course to help you with any behavioural problems you may be experiencing. At the end of the six-week course, your puppy will graduate and receive a very special Puppy School rosette and certificate for completing the course.
I live in Stow-on-the-Wold with my two children and my crossbreed ‘Paddy’ who is always by my side. I grew up on a farm with working sheepdogs who had many litters of puppies which taught me about dog and puppy behaviour at an early age. I am fascinated by animal behaviour and in addition to dog training I use kind, natural horsemanship methods with my horses. I regularly Canicross run around the Cotswolds and enjoy exploring with my dogs.
My first dog ‘Rodney’ was abandoned in Stow and I took him in, building his confidence to achieve obedience awards, competing in dog agility and qualifying him as a PAT (Pets As Therapy) dog. As a qualified primary school teacher, I am confident caring for and teaching – both humans and puppies. I really enjoy helping owners form a close bond with their dogs by using kind, reward-based methods and having fun in the process. I look forward to welcoming you to one of my classes.
