About Us

Hello! I’m Ryan and I run Prestwick Paw Patrol dog walking. I love caring for animals and my family. We currently have one boisterous Border Collie Kelpie cross called Ziggy. Ziggy and I live on Caerlaverock Road in Prestwick, with my wife and our 2 kids aged 11 & 7.

We love long walks no matter the weather, our favourite spots locally are Prestwick and Troon beach, Belleisle Park, Rozelle Park, Ayr river and the

Auchincruive estate. On the best days, we tend to venture to Loch doon or Loch Thom. We love wild camping and have recently got hooked on wild swimming too, complete with campfire and

S’more galore. We were desperate for a dog but didn’t have the time to care for it or the finances to pay a dog walker.

Whilst studying for HND in computer networking at Ayr college I worked in hospitality to help pay the bills. I enjoyed working in the hospitality industry very much and decided to keep the tech stuff as a hobby, I returned to Ayr college to study Hospitality Management to expand my career opportunities whilst working as the bar manager in a local hotel. Needing a change I moved into the kitchen where I learned to be a chef, this led to me becoming a kitchen manager for Wetherspoons. I started in the west kirk before moving on to open the Prestwick Pioneer. I managed the Kitchen there for 8 years.

When my wife qualified as a medical doctor I moved on to become a Cook in a primary school so I could care for our 2 children and manage the house. That was the story but for me, It was all about having the time to get a dog! I enjoyed working with all the young people in the school, caring for their needs and making lunchtime fun and inspiring for them. Although I loved this job and it was great for my family & dog life, I needed more. With my experience caring for my own kids and working in a school I considered starting a childminding business. I wanted to build it around being outside and going for long walks with my dog. This meant dog-friendly families and maybe I could walk the families dog too! Then it dawned on me, why am I building childminding around dogs? Build a business for dogs around dogs…and so Prestwick Paw Patrol was born.
