Welcome to Paws

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Here at Paws everything is dog related, we eat, sleep and breath dogs!! Looking after your beloved pet in the best way possible is our priority. We are fully insured for your peace of mind not only when we are exercising your dogs but also transporting them in our customised vehicles which are fitted out with all the comforts your dogs deserve as well as catering for their welfare and safety whilst travelling!

Dog Walking Service

Dog Walking Service, we collect your dog from your home and take them out for an hour walk/playtime at our paddocks in Harden before returning them home. All the walks are off lead with other dogs that are all of good temperment. (£12 per walk). Alternatively if you are away from home for longer periods we offer a service where they spend the day with us which costs £24/dog.

Our vehicles are both fully customised for your dogs comfort and safety, all crates are roomy with vet bedding and have water buckets for traveling. They both have a ventilation unit which is triggered remotely with a heat sensor. Once it hits a certain temperature the unit will open and expel hot air, we also have  flettner vent fitted for extra air circulation.

Our paddocks are completely secure for your peace of mind and for the safety of your dog whilst in our care. This enables us to let your dogs play with dogs of a similar nature and exuberance while never having the worry of meeting other dogs on a walk whose nature we cannot guarantee.

Dog Holiday Service

5 Star Rating – Licence Number: 473749/247507

Paws offers a ‘Dog Holiday’ service for when you are away on your holidays! This service is only open to dogs that we know and the only restriction to your dogs stay is that they are sociable and will get along with my own dogs. Your dogs are walked off lead with your permission and can free run with my own in locations such as Harden Moor, St. Ives and Penistone Moor. Alternatively they can be exercised at our secure paddock in Harden. Your dogs will accompany us wherever we are and join us on our working days where they will get to play with our regular dog walking dogs too.

We do prefer you to supply your own dogs food but can feed them upon request at cost, our dogs are fed ProDog Raw. All your dog needs for their holidays is their food and their collar (complete with your identification tag), we supply all bedding, bowls, toys and leads to keep things as simple as possible!

Your dogs get will get a minimum of two 1hr walks per day and live alongside our own and be treated as such, you can be safe in the knowledge that your dogs know us and we know them and while you are away they are living a normal life not stuck in kennels! We will even pick up your dog and bring them back to your home at your convenience. While you are enjoying your holiday we are always happy to update you and send photos if required.

Our prices are based on day-care rates and not actually overnight; £24 per day and are charged as full days only. Bookings require a £50 deposit which is non refundable and full payment to be made prior to your dog’s holiday booking.

To avoid disappointment please give us as much notice as possible when booking your dogs holidays as we do book up in advance, especially around school holidays.

Dog Training

Our dog training courses run for six weeks at a time, every course is customised for your dog and you depending on yours and their experience and exactly what is important to you as an owner for your dogs to learn. The sessions are structured but if there is one specific area that we identify your dog needs more work on then we tailor your sessions to suit, there is little point practicing a ‘sit’ if your dog is doing it perfect but will not walk on a loose lead!

Our courses are held outdoors in secure paddocks which helps your dog train in ‘real life’ surroundings, it is sometimes a bit colder than the average church hall that most dog training classes are held in but when have you ever needed your dog to recall back to you in a church hall?!

Your first session we build the basics and there will be just you, your dog and your trainer present. In the following sessions we use our own dogs as distractions to help you gain your dogs attention whilst there are other dogs playing around you just as you would find out on your average walk.

We train mid day to early afternoon Midweek and a weekend day by arrangement on occasion.

The courses run for 6 weeks and costs £130. The sessions are one a week held on the same day and time as your first session unless otherwise arranged and last for thirty minutes. Sometimes we may delay a session for a couple of weeks while you spend the time practicing a certain task to come back and pick up the next stage, this helps you get the most out of your courses.

Behavioural Consultations & Rehabilitation

We provide two types of Behavioural Consultations depending on your dog’s specific problem/s. You can find more details of these below.
All our training is strictly reward based and no physical punishment is ever used within our training plans.

One Hour Behavioural Sessions
Behavioural Problems are very specific from dog to dog, listed below are a few common problems that we are frequently asked to help within our 1hr Sessions. For dogs that are aggressive or have more deep seated issues please see our Two Hour Behavioural Consultation for details.

It is very rare to find an overnight solution to behavioural problems, some can take weeks others several months to put right. Paws is here to help you train your dog to improve or eradicate undesirable behaviour.

Two Hour Behavioural Session
Behavioural Problems are very specific from dog to dog, listed below are a few common problems that we are frequently asked to help with in our 2hr Consultations. These sessions are for more advanced aggression cases or behavioural issues that are well established as a habit in your dog.
Dog on Dog Aggression
Dog on Handler/Human Aggression

We can visit you in your home or it can be held at the training venue in Harden if appropriate for your initial consultation to evaluate how to combat your specific problem/s areas, this lasts for approximately two hours, this session cost £250. You will receive a full written report, this will contain a re-training programme detailing the methods of positive reward based training required to treat your problem. Telephone back up is free (within reason) and future visits are charged at £45 for an approximate one hour session. It is very rare to find an overnight solution to behavioural problems, some can take weeks others several months to put right. Paws is here to help you train your dog to improve or eradicate undesirable behaviour.

Owning an aggressive or reactive dog is never easy but there are plenty of ways that we can help you to ideally overcome your dog’s problem but always improve it. We specialise in Reactive or Aggressive dogs and have helped many dogs and their owners enter a better relationship and understanding of why their dogs behave like they do and how to improve it.

If your dog is reactive to other dogs, we have some fabulous ‘stooge’ dogs that we work with that enable your dog to regain confidence with other dogs. They are masters of body language and are totally non confrontational and will be handled by ourselves.
