At Paws ‘n’ Claws we offer everything from outstanding cat and dog boarding accommodation through to professional dog grooming and residential dog training.
We want you to feel confident that when you leave your pets with us they are being looked after in a caring and professional animal care environment.
We are located in Lancashire on the A581 between Croston village and the A59 at Rufford and our boarding kennels and cattery are convenient for Preston, Chorley, Leyland, Wigan, Southport, Ormskirk and Liverpool Merseyside.

Dog boarding
All our kennels provide heated and insulated accommodation designed to be comfortable, spacious and easy to clean. Individual 24 hour heating for your dog is also available on request.
We can house all breeds of dogs from small to large and have extra large kennels for families of dogs.
To ensure the greatest comfort for your pet while in our care, please feel free to bring their favourite bedding and toys from home. Other accessories such as dog jackets and leads are also welcome.
We have industrial washing machines and dryers to clean any soiled items.
To get your dogs really feeling at home from home we can arrange to take them for lead walks and arrange bathing and grooming ready for going home… simply let us know when you make your booking.
During your dogs stay we are able to offer short customised training while boarding courses covering activities such as sit, stay and walking correctly on the lead.
Cat boarding
Our cat chalets are spacious and light with one raised room for sleeping and another room for eating and exercise.
From its raised area your cat can see out through windows and watch the world go by. We have extra large chalets for families of cats.
You are welcome to bring scratching posts and toys to keep them entertained during their stay together with their favourite bed and bedding.
Grooming
Most pets benefit from regular grooming to help them maintain their skin and coat. It also makes them feel better and look great and to make things even more convenient for you our grooming salon is open 7 days a week.
Our professional salon comes complete with fully equipped bathing room, a large styling area and is ideally suited for grooming dogs.
When you go on holiday why not have your pet groomed… we can arrange for them to have a going home bath on the day they leave so your re-union will be even more pleasurable with a clean, happy and fresh smelling pet to take home.
Residential training
Why not keep your dog busy and occupied while youre on holiday and return to a more obedient dog.
If you’re having a particular problem with your dog eg pulling on the lead we may be able to help with one of our short courses.
Please feel free to discuss any such problems with one of our trainers. A trained dog is a happy dog with a happier owner!
Our expert dog trainers offer specialist residential dog training courses lasting 1,2, or 3 weeks depending on your dogs requirements.
When you book your dog in with us we complete an extensive questionnaire, which covers your dogs behaviour, temperament and any particular problems you are having.
We then agree with you which aspects of your dogs obedience you would like us to concentrate on during the course.
About us
Paws ‘n’ Claws was started by Les and Denise Forshaw, both graduates of Liverpool University Les in Mechanical Engineering and Denise in Dentistry. Les and Denise are married with four children.
Planning permission for a purpose built kennels and cattery was obtained in 1990. After a major investment in facilities the business was started and grew rapidly to become established as one of the premier animal care centres in the North-West of England.
The original aim of the business was to provide quality animal care and services and we are continuously trying to improve on the standards we set.
