Food medicine and diets

We feed all are boarding dogs with dry food supplied by Burgess and Purina. We have a range of foods that include sensitive, puppy, diet and normal feed to cater for every diet.  Although, we are happy to feed your own diet, if supplied with an instruction sheet.

Any medication can be administered including prescribed injections which have to be done on a regular basis such as diabetes.

Dog Boarding Kennels at Oak Farm

Our buildings provide warm comfortable rooms for all breeds, they are cool in summer and warm in winter. We play Classical music in the night to keep the dogs relaxed.  We use bedding and blankets for warmth, which are washed daily. All rooms have outside covered runs for wet conditions otherwise dogs are out in the gardens playing and socialising out in the 14 large gardens. We also walk the dogs across the fields if customers require this service. We take puppies from 10 weeks up to the oldest being a 20 year old basset hound.

In the unfortunate event of a pet becoming ill, one of our vets is just 2 minutes away, and can be left in their care if so required.

All dogs must be fully vaccinated to also include the kennel cough vaccine (which is not the annual booster) we regret that without proof of vaccination no pet will be
admitted into our care.

We offer a collection and delivery service of any animals!

We give open and honest advice about boarding your pet, along with:

Clean and comfortable accommodation
Special diets catered
Medication administered
Regular times for play and exercise
24 hour veterinary services on standby
Additional grooming services, if requested
Delivery and collection available

When You’ll Look You’ll Book

We strongly encourage you to visit our kennels before boarding to reassure yourself that we are the right one for your dog. Please phone before visiting to ensure Sean, the owner can personally see you.

Cattery

Opened in 2005 some distance away from the kennel buildings, all rooms are centrally heated, and can also have additional heating if required. All chalets can hold two to three cats if you have more then one cat. The chalets have full size sneeze barriers between each pen and contain igloos for the cats to sleep in as well as a plastic chair a box to help them jump up to their beds. Owners  are kindly asked to bring there own food as cats can be fussy eaters. (we can supply ours if required). You can bring scratching posts and toys, as for hygiene reasons we do not have these to stop cross infection. We already have a local vets using us, and have had diabetic cats recommended to us from other vets. The building is eventually going to incorporate a large bird aviary, to entertain the cats from a distance.

Small animals – Rabbits Guinea pigs

Also situated in the same building as the cattery we have a small animal section to cater and care for such animals as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, birds, etc. The rabbits must have mixy and vhd injections, also in the summer we require the back guard spray to stop fly strike.

We offer a collection and delivery service on all animals!

Cat Lovers

Having has cats as pets of our own, we understand these much loved feline animals and when they stay with us theu become part of our family.

We ensure your cat feels safe, happy and loved during their stay.

The cattery is open all year round and so has been designed to ensure that our guests are kept cool in the summer and warm and cosy in the winter.

Micro-Chipping

Sean qualified in 2001 to micro chip dogs and cats. Micro chipping can be done by Sean at Oak farm kennels. Also if  a dog is found Sean can scan them to find their owners.

What is a microchip?

A tiny, inert capsule the size of a grain of rice containing an identification number linking you to your pet.

How does it work?

If the unthinkable happens and your pet wanders away a vet, rescue centre or dog warden will use a small hand-held scanner to detect the microchip number. This number is registered with PetLog, the national central database run by the Kennel Club.  PetLog will confirm your contact details and you will be reunited with your pet.

Where is the implant site?

Under the skin between the shoulder blades.

How long will it take to implant the microchip?

Just a few moments! In fact, by the time you complete the  PetLog registration form your pet will be protected by the latest I.D. technology.

How long does registration last?

Your pet is registered for life.

Can all scanners read pet-detect ®

Pet-detect®  uses the latest technology from Germany (FDX-B) and can scanned adnauseam by all ISO scanners.  Perfect for PETS travel.

Travel plans?

If you travel abroad your pet must have a microchip in order to comply with the regulations.
