Newport Pet Services

Be the first to review

Welcome to Newport Pet Services and thank you for visiting our page. My name is Sara and I am a lifelong animal lover and pet owner. I set up Newport Pet Services to provide the residents of Newport (Shropshire) and the surrounding areas with a fully insured, reliable, trustworthy and friendly pet sitting service with a strong focus on treating client’s pets with the same love and care as I would treat my own.

I am a born and bred Shropshire “lass” , in fact, my family have lived in the Newport area for over 400 years.

I have always remained local to the area and, indeed, completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at the University of Wolverhampton, graduating with Honours in 2009 with a 2:1.

I am passionate about animals and my siblings and I grew up with a variety of cats, dogs, guinea pigs, mice and, of course, the obligatory childhood goldfish! As an adult, I have kept cats, chinchillas, dogs, chickens, degus and a horse, so can honestly say I have never been without animals in my life. Currently, my partner and I share our home with four cats, a three-legged dog, and a flock of ex-battery hens.

You will see their photos quite often throughout our website and our social media accounts as I view my pets’ adventures as an integral part of my business – if my clients can see how happy and healthy my own animals are, they are more likely to trust me with their beloved pets – it’s as simple as that!

Although I have always had animals, I have not always worked with them and instead spent almost 9 years working for the Police and, later, for a crime prevention initiative run by the London Mayor’s Office for Policing & Crime (MOPAC). Most of these years were spent as a civilian Crime Prevention Officer and I qualified as both a Crime Prevention Practitioner and an Architectural Liaison Practitioner in 2014. Although, I have come away from the world of policing now, I still like to support my “blue light” family where I can and have been proud to offer a discount to emergency services/armed forces personnel from day one.

When I set up Newport Pet Services in 2018, my original intention was to run the business alone for a few years before taking on a member of staff. However, I built up such a good reputation and such a large client base in such a short space of time that by the summer of 2019 I was ready for some help! Sammy joined me as a dog walker that year with Paula completing our little team six months later. It is an absolute pleasure to work with such dedicated animal lovers and I get wonderful feedback from clients about the hard work, dedication, love, and compassion that Sammy and Paula show their pets every day. I feel truly blessed to have such a great team!

Whatever your pets’ needs, Newport Pet Services are here to help – seven days a week, 365 days of the year! Please take a look at our full range of services listed on this site and feel free to contact us for further information. We look forward to meeting you and your pets!

Dog Walking

At Newport Pet Services, we believe in treating your pets as we would do our own and understand that your peace of mind is key when looking for a dog walker.

Instead of pack walking (where multiple dogs from different households are walked together in a group or ‘pack’), we pride ourselves on only walking one client’s dog(s) at a time to ensure your fur babies have our full attention.

We never walk off-lead without written permission from the client, we’re fully insured, and all of our staff are DBS checked and Canine First Aid trained. In addition, all of our walks are GPS-tracked so that you can be confident that your dog has had the walk you’ve paid for.

We have also been recognised as a Plastic-Free Business by Sustainable Newport for our exclusive use of plastic-free dog poo bags and our commitment to reducing our environmental impact.

Adventure Walks

Give your dog the adventure they deserve!

New for 2020, Adventure Walks are becoming increasingly popular with clients who struggle to find time to give their dogs a good run and the opportunity to burn off some energy.

As with our normal dog walks, we only walk one client’s dog(s) at a time so you can be sure that your pooch’s Adventure Walk remains exclusive, fun, and safe. When you book an Adventure Walk, we collect your dog at the allotted time, transport them safely to an area of natural beauty and allow them to walk, run and play in the English countryside to their heart’s content! When it is time to come home again, your dog is transported home, delightfully exhausted but very happy! Each adventure walk is tailor made to your dog’s needs, age, and energy level, and you can book as long a walk as you’d like.

Please note, Adventure Walks are available for existing dog walking clients only as we need to know your dog well enough to be able to walk them off-lead safely. To be eligible for Adventure Walks, your dog must have excellent recall and be good around other dogs/people just in case we encounter them on our walk. Clients will be asked to sign an off-lead walking disclaimer for insurance purposes.

Pet Visiting

Whether you’re going on holiday or working away, many people prefer to keep their pet in familiar surroundings rather than take them to a cattery or other boarding facility.

Whatever your reason, we are here to care for your pet in your absence, ensuring they feel comfortable and content in their own home and providing you with that all important peace of mind 7 days a week, 365 days of the year.

We can provide daytime visits for anything from hamsters to horses, degus to donkeys, chinchillas to chickens and everything in between! We have experience of caring for a wide range of domestic animals and can tailor make your pet visiting package to perfectly suit your requirements. We’re fully insured, and all our staff are DBS checked and pet first aid trained.

Pet Chaperoning

Yes! You can have your dog at your wedding!!

Many people wish to share their wedding day with those they love most and this includes their furry friends! However, the practicalities of having their dog at their wedding often mean that many people are discouraged from doing so. After all, the bride and groom cannot be expected to take Rover down the aisle with them but if they ask a member of the wedding party to take charge of their pooch, that guest will likely miss out on all the fun.

Luckily, Newport Pet Services offers a fully insured pet chaperoning service so that your beloved dog can join you for your wedding photos before being safely returned to a location of your choice, leaving you and your guests to enjoy your special day. We can tailor make a pet chaperoning package to suit you, combining it with our dog walking and/or pet sitting services to help your dream wedding run smoothly. Contact us today for more information!

Pet Taxi

Whether you’re elderly, suffering from injury, or life is simply too hectic, not being able to drive can present a significant problem for pet owners.

Luckily, Newport Pet Services can safely transport your pet to the vets, groomers or wherever else they need to be and return them home again. We’re fully insured, and all our staff are DBS checked and pet first aid trained.

Please note, we are only insured to transport pets. We cannot take human passengers as this would require the same licence as a minicab. If you wish to accompany your pet to the destination, you will need to find alternative transport for yourself while we transport your pet.
