Montgomeryshire Pet Services offer dog walking, pet sitting, equine and bespoke pet concierge in Abermule, Garthmyl, Berriew, Montgomery, Newtown and surrounding areas.

We’re here to help

MPS was born from a love of animals and identifying a need for additional help and support to pet owners who live in, or are visiting the area. 

We all know how important it is for our pets physical and mental health to have their needs met. Increasingly long hours at work, unforeseen incidents or perhaps a change in circumstances which mean that consistent walks are no longer able to fit into your schedule. That’s where we come in, ” We’re there when you can’t be!”

Services

We carry out a free, no obligation meet and greet prior to the commencement of any service. This ensures that the services we offer are suitable for you and your pet and allows us to take some detailed notes about your pet, their care and routine.

If you  would like help with an unusual pet or a service that we don’t currently offer, please contact us to discuss how we could meet your requirements. 

All our staff are fully insured with enhanced DBS checks, Animal First Aid certificate, many years of experience and various other animal care qualifications and continued learning. Our vehicles are equipped with custom made safe and secure travel crates for dogs, full canine and equine first aid kits, emergency kits along with a host of other equipment and consumable supplies should they be needed. We go above and beyond to ensure that your pet is safe and well cared for and your home respected and secure.

Dog Walking

It’s not just a walk, it’s an adventure!

We don’t just turn up and march your dog around the block a few times. Our walks are carefully constructed to meet their and your needs. We allow and encourage breed/personality specific behaviour, snuffling, sniffing and exploring during parts of the walk. We work supportively and patiently with anxious dogs. We are not dog trainers, but, a certain amount of basic obedience will be implemented during our walks to maintain safety and build trust and a bond though we balance that with equal amounts of affection and fun. 

It won’t be the same old route every time, we try to hit the happy medium of comfort through consistency and vigour through variety.

Prices dependent on frequency, requirements and location.

Family/Small Group walks

We don’t do large “pack walks” as although these can prove to be great fun for some more confident and playful dogs, it’s overwhelming and stressful for most. We instead get to know each dog individually and try to pair them with a dog or select small social group who will compliment them and their enjoyment.

Solo Walks

Understandably, some owners and dogs much prefer a solo walk and we’re happy to oblige. 

Adventure Walks

These are 2+ hours of full on adventure in all sorts of environments and terrain. Heaven for the high energy dog who doesn’t do well sitting at home all day whilst their owner is at work. 

We may be able to accommodate special requirements or preferences that you or your dog may have and we’re happy to discuss a slight reduction in price for consistent bookings for multiple dogs.

Pop in or Puppy checks

When you’re out for the day, let us take the worry and guilt away!

For cats and dogs (other small pets) a short local walk or play in the garden, toilet breaks, feed and water, cage clean, administering medication, play, affection and companionship. A single price for multiple visits a day or multiple pets can be arranged, depending on frequency and your requirements.

Pet Sitting

Enjoy your break, safe in the knowledge that your pets and home will be cared for and maintained as if you were still there.

Many pets don’t do well with the stress of staying away from home. Kennels and catteries are a very different environment than some pets are used to. Depending on the pet(s), we can offer residential stays or daily pop in calls. We will look after your pets and home to your exact requirements. 

The price would be agreed beforehand based on your requirements.

Equine Services

Happy to discuss regular or one off visits as required.

We have many years of equine experience as owners and professionally. We are more than happy to discuss your requirements whether it’s a full horse sit, groom for an event, box rest, quick field check, feeding, rugging, stabling, Farrier, Podiatry, Dental, Physio or Vet visit etc 

Pet Taxi

When your pet has an appointment but you cant be in two places at once or don’t have transport. Perhaps your dog needs to go to the groomer, or your cat an emergency vet visit or routine physio appointment. We’re here to make each journey a smooth one.
