Why dog training is a necessity

Developing effective communication skills between you and your dog is crucial to contentment on both sides. If you and your dog understand each other then it stands to reason that a very positive rapport will grow every day. Taking the time to teach your dog a series of keywords and associated behaviours will certainly benefit your life … and your dog will bond with you at a deeper level in no time at all.

Body language, facial expressions, tone of voice, positive attitude and hand signals are some of the factors involved in the interaction process, as is the ability to interpret and read what your dog is telling you. If you practice our specific training techniques routinely, your mutual enjoyment, skills and rapport will definitely flourish in no time at all.

Why One-to-One ?

People and dogs of all ages can benefit from one-to-one professional advice and practical help.

Some people request a one-to-one meeting because, for example, they have a puppy or a new dog and want to make sure they do things correctly, right from the start.

Others need solutions to issues that need to change quickly – you might, for example, want to find out how to handle…

  • Jumping or excited behaviour
  • Pulling on the lead behaviour
  • Aggressive behaviour
  • Anxiety generated by loud noises
  • Separation Anxiety

WHY CHOOSE

A ‘WALK and TALK’ SESSION?

A ‘walk and talk’ session is extremely useful for people who have a new dog or puppy or maybe a rescue dog and want to make sure they do things correctly, right from the start. The session focuses on getting your dog to be more responsive to you and explains how to do this on a daily basis.

Some request a walk and talk as they need help with a dog that exhibits a misbehaviour in the outside world. For example, your dog …

  • might not be great when walking on lead
  • may bark at other dogs when out and about
  • may be reactive to people approaching
  • may not have good recall
WHAT’S

INVOLVED?

I often meet people on the prom in Bexhill-on-Sea, where other people, dogs and varied stimuli (skateboards, seagulls, sea smells etc) will help create a challenging environment. I can bring a dog or dogs too, who won’t react to your dog – and we can discuss how to improve your dog’s behaviour and responsiveness as we walk. The session is tailored to your dog and your individual needs.

‘When and how to praise and correct’ play a part of the information given and there are MANY other ways this session will help promote good behaviour (indoors and outdoors) and the session will improve your handling skills too. The session will also improve your confidence levels and give you an opportunity to ask any questions face-to-face.

Please take a look at our “walk and talk” reviews online and see what others think of this service.
