Lough House Boarding Kennels Little Orton, Carlisle

Welcome to the Lough House Boarding Kennels website. Lough House is ideally set in rural isolation on the Moorhouse side of Little Orton village, six miles to the west of Carlisle city centre, Cumbria.

Lough House kennels were first licenced in 1983 and are currently owned and managed by myself Kevin Courtney and my wife Louise.

We are dedicated to providing a friendly, caring and secure environment so that you can relax during your time away knowing that your dog enjoys the personal attention they will receive within our boarding kennels.

We do realise that leaving your dog in kennels can be worrying for owners so we welcome anyone wishing to inspect our facilities before booking.

No appointment is necessary for inspections at our dog kennels. All we request is that you pop along during our opening hours.

About Us

Located on the outskirts of Carlisle, Cumbria, Lough House kennels has 17 kennels, being a mixture of 13 double and 4 single units. We are licensed by Carlisle City Council to board a maximum of 30 dogs. There are concrete runs and a large grass paddock, all fully secured, which allows for regular ‘free running’ and exercising for the dogs boarding with us.

Bookings are taken on a strictly limited basis and the small number of kennels ensures that each dog has sufficient one to one contact during its stay with us.

All breeds of dogs are welcome and are accommodated in individual kennels.

As far as possible the kennel routine at Lough House replicates the home environment providing a familiar, friendly and relaxed atmosphere for our boarders.

Boarding

We supply all beds along with specialist pet bedding which, if necessary, can be changed and laundered on a daily basis. However, owners wishing to supply their dogs own bedding are more than welcome to do so.

We feed, as standard, either a high quality complete dry dog food, an equivalent tinned meat, or a mixture of both with dog biscuits given as treats after each exercise period. We are happy for clients to bring their own specialist diet, there will be no discount offered for owners wishing to supply their own food.
Our main feeding time follows the late afternoon exercise period although additional and mid-day feeds can be added to suit a dog’s dietary requirements.

Special needs and administration of medication can be accommodated by prior arrangement.

Lough House kennels near Carlisle, Cumbria reserve the right to refuse any boarders that cannot provide proof of vaccination. Similarly we reserve the right to refuse any dog which we consider to be in unhealthy condition or to be of unreliable temperament.
