Lakeland Dog Walker

Our Story

In 2014, Naomi took the biggest risk of her life: she gave up her job as a retail manager and set up Lakeland Dog Walker. Professional dog walking was a relatively new concept in the area, so there were people that thought she was crazy! Her parents ran their own restaurant (Quince and Medlar) and her husband has his own mountain activity company (Lakeland Mountain Guides), so she knew what it took to be self employed. With her love of dogs and knowledge gained through achieving a first class honours degree in Adventure Tourism Management, she had the basic tools to set up her own business. Before she knew it, business was booming and after a year of being a Keswick based one-woman-band, Hannah, (Naomi’s Sister-in-Law) became a Lakeland Dog Walker too. Hannah started walking dogs in the Cockermouth area and  because they made such a great team it only took a few months before another pair of hands was needed, and then another and then another!

As the business continued to grow, Naomi found herself having to spend more and more time managing the business instead of doing the hands-on work which she enjoyed. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Naomi decided to drastically downsize the business by offering some of her current staff the chance to run their own dog walking companies. Bryan took over Keswick under the name K9 Krew Keswick, Sam took over the Dearham side under the name Terry’s Tails and Miechelle set up her own out of area company called K9 Adventures Cumbria. Naomi loves the fact she was able to give her team the opportunity to run their own business whilst not leaving her current customers without a dog walker.
The Lakeland Dog Walker team these day compiles of Naomi, Hannah, Mattias and Niamh with the catchment area for dog walking being Cockermouth and Brigham. They pride themselves in offering a five star service, giving dogs the opportunity to play with other friendly dogs in a safe and caring environment.

Our Services

We have a multitude of services ranging from pet pop-ins and pet feeding to dog walking and full adventure days.
You can be assured that whether your pet is getting home visits whilst you are on holiday or your dog is out on one of our extremely social pack walks, they’ll be looked after as if they were our own and get lots of love and attention from the Lakeland Dog Walker team.

Social Dog Walking

30, 60 or 90 minutes

available Monday to Friday 9:30am-14:30pm

we do a “buy one get one half price” for additional dogs from the same address

We aim to make every walk great fun for each dog by playing with them using a variety of balls, toys and training aids.

One of the Lakeland Dog Walker team will pick your dog(s) up from home and head out to a number of potential locations depending on how long they are booked in for:

30 minute walks are usually short sharp on-lead walks from the house and costs £10.00 for one dog, £15.00 for 2 dogs and £25.00 for 3 dogs from the same address

60 minute walks can mean a ride in the van for some off -lead fun. This will cost £13.00  for one dog, £19.50 for 2 dogs and £32.00  for 3 dogs from the same address

90 minute walks tend to be in the woods or a trip to the beach if the tide is out and will cost £17.00  for one dog,  £25.50 for 2 dogs and £42.50 for 3 dogs from the same address

As you can imagine, it is hard to have set times for walks until we know which dogs are booked in on that day. We tend to have two walks per day per dog walker: one in the morning and one in the afternoon (with an occasional third lunch time walk if needed) therefore we ask you to select  either a “morning” or “afternoon” walk opposed to a specific time.

Adventure Days

Available Monday to Friday

Adventure Days are roughly 10am to 2pm (£28)

we do a “buy one get one half price” for additional dogs from the same address

If you know you’re having a long day at work, you have a dog free activity to enjoy or you’d prefer your dog to have company throughout the day, they can spend the day with us at Lakeland Dog Walker.

Your dog will be collected at around 10am and returned happy, relaxed and satisfied at 2pm (depending on what we have planned, we may pick up earlier and drop off slightly later).

Each adventure will be different as it will depend on the weather, how many dogs are booked in and if it is school holidays or not (we avoid heading into the Lake District during peak times).

Adventure Days involve on-lead walking, off-lead walking, play time, swimming and rest time (for the dog and the dog walker!)

We have up to 6 dogs per Dog Walker, so your dog will make plenty of four-legged friends to explore different environments with.

To limit joint damage and to avoid exhaustion, we have a minimum age of 6 months for our adventure days.

Pet Pop-Ins & Feeding

Available Monday to Friday (& most weekends)

For all pets big and small

If you have a pet that doesn’t require a walk, we can pop in for ten minutes to feed them, change bedding, let them out for a pee in the garden, change litter trays or simply just give them some attention when you’re unable to.

This service is suitable for young puppies or older dogs that need a pee break or two when you’re at work or away for the day.

If you’re going on holiday, we can also pop in and see to cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, chickens, donkeys, even your gold fish…

1 visit a day: £6

2 visits a day: £11

If a more thorough clean of cages/hutches/stables etc is needed, this will be an additional £5.

The prices above are based on a 10 minute visit. If it is expected that the visit will take longer than 15 minutes, we will discuss how much it will cost beforehand.
