PUPPY and DOG TRAINING

I am a fully qualified (with distinction) IMDT Dog Trainer with 40 years of experience of working with dogs. I am passionate about helping owners and their dogs by using non aversive, cutting edge, positive reinforcement methods that are scientifically based and really work. It’s fun too!! I offer private 1-2-1 training sessions for puppies, adolescent and adult dogs. I have a consulting room which is disinfected after every use and a very large indoor training studio set within 2 acres of secure grounds with ample parking at the front of the property.

PUPPY TRAINING – THE NEW ARRIVAL – FROM 8 WEEKS OLD

There is a ‘window of opportunity’ in a puppy’s life. This critical socialisation period of learning and development is approximately between the ages of 3 and 17 weeks old where what happens to a puppy can influence, alter and shape their behaviour well into adulthood. From about 12 weeks onwards the opportunity to introduce new things that are acceptable and enjoyable to the puppy becomes harder with each passing week. After this time period pups become more cautious of new situations. It is, therefore, extremely important to get things off to a good start as soon as possible.

Your first puppy private 1-2-1 session takes place in my consultation room which is thoroughly disinfected with an anti-viral, anti-Parvo virus, antibacterial product after every use. This is a safe, calming, quiet space and the perfect environment for puppies who have just joined their new family – even at only 8 weeks old! This session will teach you how to settle your puppy in to a fantastic routine, help with toilet training, sleep issues, crate training, eating, how to reduce unwanted behaviour, how to start a puppy recall and lots more. The session lasts for an hour + and a detailed, personalised written report is sent to you immediately after the session so you can start to implement these regimes straight away. The cost of my 1-2-1 puppy training session is £70. The feedback from hundreds of clients is that they say this training session is invaluable, really informative and has put them on the right track immediately saving sleepless nights, toileting errors and unwanted behaviour right from the get-go.

PUPPY CLASSES

Once your puppy has had their injections, and your Vet has advised you that it is safe and ready to go out, the trainings continue at K9 Ventures and out in the big wide world. I offer 1-2-1 lessons in calm, secure indoor and outdoor environments. I have found over the years that some puppies can feel frightened, upset, overwhelmed or over excited when mixed together in a group class. I also feel that noisy and stressful environments are not the best option for some puppies at a time when we want them to be accepting, happy and calm with new experiences. Clients also say they find it difficult to concentrate in a group class as they are trying to get their pup to settle with other pups around. Sometimes getting a puppy to remain calm in a group class is impossible which is why I feel that private 1-2-1 lessons are the very best for your puppy.

Many owners come to me exhausted and in tears after a week of owning a puppy, feeling like they are at the end of their tether already. Did you know that ‘puppy blues’ is actually a thing? Their cute bundle of fluff isn’t quite what they were expecting and they need solid, practical advice given in a kind, non-judgemental and caring manner that really works. I offer a sympathetic ear to new puppy owners and come up with workable solutions to every problem.

I have personally raised many pups over the years myself and through my day care business have helped numerous owners raise their puppies to become confident and well-mannered dogs. Since becoming a Dog Trainer, I have literally helped hundreds of puppies and their owners. I have first-hand experience with many different breeds of dog and my training education in this area is extensive.

The puppy training course lasts for 6 weeks and each lesson is about an hour long, at a cost of £360 giving your pup the perfect start in life. I aim to help you raise a happy, confident, well-adjusted member of your family and one that you will be proud to take anywhere. I will help you to develop a relationship with your dog built on the understanding of your dog’s body language and complete trust. The training sessions are fun, informative and delivered with empathy and energy to owners and pups alike. Each class is carefully planned with Q & A sessions to help you overcome any problems you may be experiencing.
