Dogs have always been a part of my life. From the family dogs we had while I was growing up in North Wales to the dogs that have shared my life as an adult. It was during a ‘between dogs’ gap that I started volunteering for Dogs Trust which is where I met Polly, my current dog. Polly had been in the kennels for seven months and, at just two years old, was looking for her third home. She had some issues which led me onto the path of learning about canine behaviour (just out of interest at the time!) and I enrolled on a Diploma in Canine Behaviour and Psychology. While I’m grateful that she’s taught me so much, Polly’s issues could have been avoided if only she had received early socialisation and training. She was too old for Puppy School but after trying a few different trainers eventually found someone with a training ethos I was happy with i.e. kind, reward based methods who made training enjoyable, that person was also a Puppy School tutor.
Redundancy gave me the push I needed to make a career with dogs and I trained as a dog groomer and Puppy School tutor. I spent a year volunteering as assistant for a Puppy School tutor and am proud and to now be able to bring Puppy School back to the area where I grew up and offer my own classes. I am so looking forward to meeting you and your gorgeous puppies!
Classes are held at Paterson Hall, Horeb Chapel, High Street, Dyserth LL18 6AB on Tuesdays.
