Our Story

I grew up in Belgium until the age of five, moving to the UK after my Father left the British Army. Jess like me had an army upbringing but remained local once his Father’s service ended.

We both attended local primary schools. I attended secondary school in Folkestone and Jess continued his education at the Duke of York’s Royal Military School, Dover.

I then left school to work in various places before settling into a medical environment, lastly leaving the NHS to start my own dream business. My passion has always been the health and welfare of animals and I have worked voluntarily for several animal rescue centres down the years. Even playing mum to a liter of baby hedgehogs and rabbits, all of which survived against the odds.

Jess has worked in sales and was a long-term employee of a local trade company, where he served as the Area Manager for many years. He also shares my passion for animals and their welfare.

After a year behind the scenes, getting the licence, a company vehicle, insurance and attending courses, etc. Home From Home was born. The courses continue and our knowledge and understanding is ever growing. We started the business in February of 2020, just as the global pandemic hit. Ever since, we have been able to watch Home From Home grow even in such strange times.

The mission was to create a personalised, bespoke dog daycare and boarding service. Your pet’s welfare and happiness is the key to how we run Home From Home. We are licensed for eight dogs in total (including our own resident dogs). We always make sure that our dogs are well-matched and compatible so that the dogs have the best experience with us. Jess and I endeavour to create a loving, friendly, home environment in which your dogs will be relaxed for the duration of their stay, keeping their stay as similar to their normal routines as much as possible.
