We are not sure that we can put into words how special this girl was.
Hawksmoor Grace and Honour, more commonly known as Grace (or sometimes ‘Graceless’ in her younger days), has ended an era at Hawksmoor. She was the last in Sue’s line of the
Hawksmoor Golden Retrievers and boy, did we save the best till last. Grace did nothing by half! Even her entrance to the world was dramatic and oh so awkward! Bank holiday Monday……… caesarean section…… we say no more! That’s basically how she decided to live her life, to the full, all 14¼ years of them!!
She was fiercely independent but oh so loving, yet incredibly stubborn!!! Even in her last few days, she was still playing mind games with the hydrotherapy team in the attempt to avoid getting wet, out witting Sue on a regular basis and demanding which way she wanted to go on walks. There was no compromise, and this only got worse as she got older! She loved nothing more than rolling round on the mat in the Physiotherapy room, trying to nibble your chin, whilst demanding more laser therapy! She had Laura just where she wanted her!
Then there were the training courses. She got sacked from bandaging on the first aid course fairly early on by Sara as she thought it was all one huge game to roll around, run off with the Vetrap whilst maintaining the most enormous smile on her face,
squinting her eyes and curling her ears! In the hydrotherapy pool, she
certainly knew when we had students as she would put her super stubborn mode on and roll out every trick in the book to be as difficult as possible.
Would we have changed her………..never!
