About Us

“Hi, my name is Nicola and I am the proud Owner of Happy Hounds Uppingham. I live in Uppingham with my husband, two children and my two dogs Max and Bailey. Having owned dogs since childhood, dogs have become a huge part of my life. I am delighted to be able to run a business that combines my love of dogs, walking, being outdoors, helping people and not having to leave my two pups by themselves for too long. My ambition with Happy Hounds is simple, I want to provide an amazing experience for your dog(s) which will brighten up their day and take all of the worry away from you, the owner, when you can’t be with them. I am experienced, friendly, trustworthy, reliable, hardworking and I will always go that extra mile to ensure your dog is happy. In addition, I am fully licenced with Rutland County Council (Name of Licence Holder: Nicola Billam, Licence Number: 121146), insured, Criminal Record Checked, trained in Pet First Aid and have a level three qualification in Professional Day Care and Boarding. I have also taken a variety of dog behaviour courses with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers. I hope you enjoy looking through the services that Happy Hounds Uppingham provides. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like any further information”.

Dog Day Care

The day care is situated at the beautiful location of Valley Farm on Seaton Road in Uppingham and we are hoping to be open for business in early 2024. Valley Farm is already home to Unleashed in Uppingham. The day care will operate out of a refurbished barn, which will be insulated to protect against extreme weathers. The barn has direct access to a secure outside area and we will also have access to a fully fenced field where day care dogs will be exercised at least twice a day. Day care dogs will have structured but fun days with us, the plan for the day has been created with the help of a dog behaviourist and includes lots of playtime with like-minded dogs, enrichment, walks, cuddles, fuss and downtime when needed. The aim is to return dogs to their owners at the end of the day clean, tired and happy.

Dog Walking

Living in Rutland we are incredibly lucky to be surrounded by beautiful countryside and as a family we like to explore this by finding new walks. We have a list of firm favourites which I would love to share with your four legged friends.

Walks are mainly in the countryside outside of Uppingham and you can choose whether your dog would prefer a group walk to enjoy time socialising with other dogs or a solo walk which will only be your dog or dogs from your household. We also hire the secure field at Unleashed in Uppingham for group walks, the aim is to give your dog a good variety of different experiences. You can also choose if you would like your dog to be kept on the lead or if you are happy for me to let them off. The length of walk booked does not include travel time.
