Happy Hounds & Cooler Cats

Be the first to review

In the summer of 1999 Catherine Brown and Matt Cornell gave up their careers at the BBC and in politics to work in the field they love: animals. Having worked in kennels in the past they decided they wanted to provide a more caring alternative that minimised the distress sometimes caused by being away from home.

In addition as the proud owners of the rescue dog Cooler (named after Steve McQueen, the Cooler King in the Great Escape after she made a bid for freedom from the rescue centre!) they realised that there were few options available to people who wanted to combine a busy working life with the joy and companionship that living with a dog can bring. Therefore in 1999 they set up Happy Hounds & Cooler Cats with the aim of providing a friendly, reliable and professional dog walking and pet care service to clients in East London. They started out with one client. A brilliant pub dog called Lester.  Then a couple more.  And then word of mouth spread and soon they needed to add to the team.
Matt left  in 2004 but Cath continued with the business and now Happy Hounds & Cooler Cats have a large team of responsible, trustworthy and committed animal lovers providing a variety of pet care services to London, Essex and Kent. Happy Hounds and Cooler Cats is built on the philosophy of “taking care of other peoples animals as if they were our own”. There’s a great emphasis on training, team work and supporting each other so there’s back up and we don’t have to let anyone down.  We love what we do and always want to do better.  And with years of successful care under our belt, we truly believe your paws couldn’t be in better hands.

Our Values

Our values run through everything we do. They are love, care, kindness, positive attitude, integrity, helpfulness, professionalism.  We’re always strive to improve and we want to work with people who have those values. And everything else we can train for.   Kindness, honesty and professionalism are crucial to us and as responsible caring dog owners, we know it’s important to our clients. This is more than just any old service because it’s about caring for a member of your family, and while they’re with us we care for them as if they are our family so you can go about your daily life knowing they are in great hands.
