Husband & Wife Team, Chris and Charlotte quit their jobs in Management and Nursing in 2022 to start Handful Of Hounds. Swapping late nights and fluorescent lights for muddy paws, poo bags and dog hair, they couldn’t be happier.
With a huge need for dog care services in the area, setting up Handful Of Hounds was a no-brainer: having both grown up with dogs in the family and being proud owners of a stubborn Basset Hound, the time seemed right to open their doors to the hounds of Hertfordshire.
Small-scale, personal, and, above all, caring; Handful Of Hounds aims to be a home from home for your dog and, being fully licensed, first aid trained and insured, you can be assured your best friend is in good hands.
Boarding
Home from home! Whether it’s a holiday, weekend trip or just for the night, your dog is part of the family from the moment they arrive. They’ll be having breakfast with us in the morning, and be cuddled up watching TV with us at night. With multiple group walks throughout the day, we are able to match your pooch with likeminded friends to ensure safe and fulfilling exercise each day.
Daycare
Typically 9-5, but flexible with your working needs.
As with boarding, we have multiple group walks throughout the day, so are able to match your pooch with likeminded friends to ensure safe and fulfilling exercise each day.
Group Walk
In Berkhamsted, we’re spoilt for choice for fun, interesting and stimulating countryside walks. We carefully group dogs of similar temperaments and energy levels, go to different locations throughout the week and spend the hour actually walking. With a mix of supervised play, sniffing and adventuring, we make sure your dog gets the most out of their time with us. We have multiple slots throughout the day and make sure no one comes home over or understimulated.
Individual Walk
Bespoke one-to-one walks, or same-family walks. We try to take on all kinds of dogs and all kinds of requirements.
Home Visits
For those who prefer to, or need to keep their dog at home, we offer 15 minute home visit slots throughout the day. These can also be used to supplement walks and help break the day up for your dog.
