Dog Day Care

We understand work and social commitments can force us to leave our beloved dogs alone at home, which at best can lead to boredom and loneliness and at worse to psychological problems such as separation anxiety. Not forgetting sitting crossed legged waiting for the back door to be opened!

Our professional Dog Day Care service is here to help! We have a friendly and qualified team of staff who are knowledgeable and highly experienced regarding dogs and their needs. One of our team will pick your best friend up in the morning between 8am and 10am and bring them safely and comfortably to our dog day care centre on our picturesque farm in North London which boasts an impressive 540 acres!

Activities include:

  • Play time! That means socialising with their buddies, playing with our toys and equipment, running around and enjoying the fresh air or even taking a dip in our lake if they so desire. We have two fully secure outdoor areas catering for all needs, so your dog will be happy, whether highly energetic and athletic, or quietly contemplative and enjoying a relaxed bark with friends. During the cold winter months, or during extremes of weather, our centre also has a heated 300m sq indoor centre with all the necessary equipment to keep your dog active, happy and stimulated whilst in a warm, dry and safe & secure environment, whilst fully supervised at all times.
  • Walking along our leafy woods and forest or playing in the grounds of the farm house. The cows, sheep, horses and rare birds will surely prove to be intriguing encounters for your intrepid explorer!
  • If your dog thinks himself a bit of an athlete and is old enough, there is also unlimited, fully supervised access to our agility course. Our dogs have great team spirit, and will positively support your dog’s sporting exploits.
  • What better place for your dog to receive training than whilst here at school surrounded by dog trainers! Just let us know what you are trying to achieve and we will incorporate it into their day.

Benefits include:

  • Improved health and wellbeing
  • Better social skills
  • Cuddles and the occasional BBQ sausage
  • Reduced stress
  • A better all-round education from attending school regularly

Throughout the day your dog will be under constant supervision. He or she will have free access to fresh water, and our team can feed your dog, and also administer any required medication. Come the end of the day, we will drop your dog off between 4pm and 6pm. We will attend to any requests you have such as food and water, medicine, toys/chews and leaving them in a specific area in the house, as well as picking up the post, and turning on the lights and radio if required. Lastly, we will leave a school report card with details about the day’s adventures. If you feel words do not fully capture the daily antics, fear not, for we regularly upload videos of the activities that go on here. You can then view them alone, or whilst proudly showing off to friends and family!

Dog Walking

Dog Walkers in North London

Our professional dog walking service in Enfield provides the exercise and mental stimulation that is fundamental to keep your pup healthy, happy and stimulated. Unfortunately it is not always possible to walk your best friend which is when Halo Dogs can help and we walk dogs on or off lead, in a group or individually, depending on your specific requirements. We can walk in a local park or at our centre in Enfield giving your dog the ultimate countryside experience. We can also include some basic training during the walk if required.

All dog walks last between 1 and 2 hours and will involve some playtime and plenty of water and loo breaks as required. In addition to being left happy, content and tired your dog will also be left with a toy or treat to remain stimulated and occupied until you get home, where you also find a report card on how the walk went and how your dog enjoyed it.

Dog Training

Dog Training in North London

We provide several types of fully qualified dog training services in Enfield, North London. Dogs are fabulous companions which we would do anything for. They are the target of all our affection and love, since they are, well … so cute! Sadly, such behaviour on our part can result in unwanted behaviour from them. A dog who has no boundaries, rules and limitations and gets everything for nothing, will soon have you tearing your hair out, and will take over from you as leader of the pack in next to no time – the house will be his kingdom, and he will rule without regard!

It therefore becomes of paramount importance to train our canine companions. Though it might seem heartless to put our fluff-balls though any kind of hardship, training is actually enjoyable for them… and for you! You will learn to become a good and consistent leader, and fair in your distribution of reward. And your dog will love you for it. Dogs are pack animals that naturally look for a leader and guidance, and are much more balanced when this need is met. With dog training, your dog will:

  • Learn his role as the follower, and see you as his leader. Your dog’s bond with you will be much deeper.
  • Understand his boundaries, rules and limitations. When your dog knows what is expected of him, there is less cause for anxiety, stress and erratic behaviour.
  • Act calmly and appropriately. The more training you do with your dog, the better he will learn to read your emotions, and match his energy levels with yours.
  • Be better equipped to deal with novel situations. If your dog looks to you for guidance, you can confidently show him the way.
  • Ooze awesomeness!

Dog Training Services

Behaviour Modification

Your dog may develop behaviour which you find unacceptable at best, and sometimes dangerous. Often, we unknowingly reinforce the behaviours whilst thinking we are doing otherwise. Whatever the issue, be it jumping at people, separation anxiety or aggression, we are here to help. There will be an initial consultation where we will diagnose the problem and advise on the number of sessions that may be required. Many problems can be dealt with in only one session. We will also instruct you on how to keep your dog, and you, from falling back into bad habits, so you can feel confident and secure in the future of your human/canine relationship!

Adult Obedience Classes

Teaching, Practicing, Consolidating – the holy trinity of dog training! That is what you will learn during our six week adult obedience course. If your dog is older than six months, and is in need of sharpening up his basic skills, then this is the course for you! During the six weeks you and your dog will begin by learning basic commands such as ‘sit’ and ‘down’, then slowly be introduced to more advanced commands like ‘wait/stay’, ‘leave’, ‘drop’ and ‘recall’, learn door control and walking on a loose leash, all whilst continuing to build on what you have already learnt. We ask for one thing only – your dog needs to be fully vaccinated.

Residential Dog Training

With our busy lifestyles, it is often hard to find the time and diligence to train our dogs to a good standard. Having consulted with our customers, we now offer residential training. You leave your dog with us for a period of time, typically three weeks. Whilst in residential training, we can deal with any variety of dog training requests, from basic obedience including house training to separation anxiety and aggression. In the evenings, your dog will be in a comfortable home environment, loved and cared for only to a very slightly lower standard to the one you provide him (probably more, but we do not want to hurt your feelings)! When your best friend returns, we include a hand-over session to show you what your dog has learnt, and how you can consolidate and build on it.

Guard Dog Training

The role of a guard dog is very demanding, so potential guard dogs need to be trained to a very high standard. Due to the nature of guard dog training, your dog must already be fully conversant with all basic obedience commands. Whilst there is no set time scale for guard dog training, a dog with good basic skills should take around twelve training sessions.

Puppy Training

Puppy Training in North London

We provide fully qualified Puppy Training classes in Enfield, North London. Training your puppy from the word ‘go’ is essential for ensuring a well balanced and happy family pet. Puppy training is the key to success and training your new family member will get him or her used to following instructions and behaving appropriately in and out of your home.

Our puppy training services are suitable as soon as your pup has had their second vaccination, as the sooner you both start learning the better. We all know dogs are very clever and puppies are no different. They can quickly learn and provided the training is done correctly and consistently you will both thoroughly enjoy the time you and your family spend with your new best friend.

Our team of highly qualified and passionate dog lovers and behaviourists based in London can provide your puppy training. Our puppy classes are specifically designed for puppy training and can begin when your puppy is just 10 weeks old. Your puppy will be joined by other puppies so that social conditioning and play can also take place, allowing your new dog to get used to being around other dogs.

Our high standards and excellent knowledge in dog behaviour means you will see excellent results from your first puppy training session, see for yourself when Sammy the Terrier came to see us having just been adopted by his owner:

“Justin and his team at Halo Dogs have changed my life!

In May 2009 I adopted my second dog who was a 10 week old mixed breed puppy called Sammy. Within a very short time I realised that he was not an easy puppy. He developed all sorts of behaviour problems, and even though I was winning some of the battles, I was losing more!

I was at my wits end.

Then… I found Justin!! He took him for me for 2 weeks in August 2009. Before he went he had food possession issues and was already displaying aggressive behaviour.

He came back a changed dog!!!!”

Many other puppy training schools require your presence, however we also offer Residential Training. This doesn’t lower the standard of our training as you as the owner will also undergo training to ensure that you behave as well as your new puppy does!

For more information please see our price list or alternatively you can call us on 020 8367 7899 or you can email us and ask about our puppy training classes.

Puppy training top 5 tips

(1)   Consistency is everything. You must be consistent when training your puppy. Much like children, not following through or maintaining your own consistent behaviours will reflect in your puppy. If you decide he’s not to sleep on the bed, don’t give in! No matter how cute his one ear up, tilted head pleading stare is!

(2)   Mouthing is a normal canine behaviour, but an unacceptable one with your human pack. Dogs play with their mouths, when they get excited and play with you, most pups ultimately end up using their mouths. This behaviour must be addressed quickly so the pup doesn’t learn that using their teeth on humans is an acceptable behaviour.

(3)   Don’t physically reprimand your puppy…… EVER! One key to successful puppy training is respect and trust. By physically reprimanding your puppy when they do something inappropriate will cause you to lose that trust.

(4)   Do not encourage your pup to jump up at you for attention. Whilst it is all too easy to think how sweet your pup is jumping at your leg because it loves you, you won’t have the same perception when your dog displays the same behaviour when it is fully grown on a rainy day in the park when you are wearing white

(5)   Don’t overdo the exercise! Whilst it is true dogs need exercise, pups do not need lots. Rather than a marathon walk, make your pups exercise little and often as their skeletal system is soft and still forming so lots of impact can damage the still developing joints. This includes no stairs.

Dog Agility Training

Our dog agility training in North London, Enfield, ensures that your dog gets proper exercise and has the bonus of keeping their senses sharpened and brain occupied with something they can improve and excel in. Most dogs can do very well and have lots of fun doing agility training and it is relatively easy to learn too.

Small breeds must be at least 12 months old and large breeds at least 24 months old before starting any high impact activity, hence we will not accept dogs under these ages.
