GREYHOUND AWARENESS LEAGUE (GAL)

GAL is a registered charity in Scotland (SC031027) that rescues and rehomes Greyhounds and Lurchers throughout Scotland.

Established in 1998, GAL is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2023. Run entirely by volunteers, the Charity is dedicated to rescuing and re-homing ex-racing, ex-working, abandoned greyhounds and lurchers.

GAL encourages members of the public to meet and hopefully adopt greyhounds and lurchers.  In addition we hope to dispel many of the myths surrounding these beautiful and gentle dogs.

ABOUT US

Founded in 1998, the Greyhound Awareness League (GAL) is dedicated to rescuing and re-homing ex-racing, ex-working, abandoned greyhounds and lurchers.

GAL encourages members of the public to meet and hopefully adopt greyhounds and lurchers.  In addition we hope to dispel many of the myths surrounding these beautiful and gentle dogs.

WHAT WE DO

The Greyhound Awareness League is dedicated to raising public awareness of the plight of the retired greyhound.

GAL is a non-profit making organisation, run entirely by volunteers, which gained charitable status in March 2001.

We are a forward-thinking organisation and will continue to evolve with the times. Our one primary goal will remain constant: to continue our wonderful record of re-homing greyhounds and lurchers and to help promote these beautiful, gentle and loving dogs, as family pets.

MONTHLY WALKS and EVENTS

We have a Dog Meetup at Queens Park, Glasgow on the first Sunday of each month (except January). Meetups are a great opportunity to meet some of our Committee members as well as loads of hounds and their owners.  We would love you to join us.

In addition we attend various fayres and specialist events throughout the year. Please check our News Page or Facebook page for up to date information.
