I’m sure it’s no surprise that Florence & Oswald was born out of my love of animals. They have always played an important part in my life, from secretly buying my first kitten with pocket money at age 8, rescuing wild rabbits, to the many pets we’ve had as a family since. Ensuring they have the best possible care and compassion throughout their lives is a key lesson I’ve passed onto my daughter.
I discovered great enjoyment and satisfaction in grooming my own dogs, however when one found the experience quite difficult, exploring ways to improve his relationship with grooming was a matter of great importance. I found a holistic approach was the best way to ensure his comfort and wellbeing was first priority and so this became a cornerstone to the F&O ethos.
WHAT IS HOLISTIC GROOMING?
STRESS-FREE ENVIRONMENT WITHOUT RESTRAINTS
We create a zen spa environment by playing a mix of calming classical music and a diffuser releasing a unique blend of essential oils support relaxation of the central nervous system. Aside from supports to ensure pets are safe while grooming, no harsh restraints are used. We also provide crate-free bed spaces for dogs who have difficulty with these.
PRIORITISING WELLBEING AND TRUST
A crucial element to my holistic approach is not forcing your pet to tolerate an element of the groom that they struggle with. Trust is so important. It takes time and patience for your pet to adjust and for us to understand each other. It is also important that you trust me with your pet, that the groom is not just focused on aesthetics and knowing their wellbeing is my top priority.

ULTRASONIC DENTAL TREATMENT
The most gentle and effective ultrasonic teeth clean with Emmi-pet; a unique patented system from Emmi-dent, which uses an ultrasonic toothbrush generating up to 96 million ultrasonic waves per minute. This works to remove tartar build up, improving breath odour and reducing gum-inflammation to reduce the risk of Periodontitis and other chronic oral diseases.
The Emmi-pet brush is gentle, motionless and doesn’t involve any harsh or abrasive action. Combined with a specially formulated toothpaste, this effectively eliminates and removes food particles, bacteria, and plaque from your dog’s mouth, working to loosen calcified tartar which can then be removed. The ultrasound reaches deep below the gumline to kill germs and increase blood flow, helping to reduce inflammation and stop bleeding. It is estimated that by 2 years old, 80% of dogs begin to show signs of oral concerns and by age 3 will have active dental diseases, making a proper dental schedule a key part of any dog’s healthcare.
