About Us

Here at Flint Family Pet Services we pride ourselves on our professionalism, exacting high standards and an acute eye for detail.  With 34 years Military experience we are well equipped to assist with all your pets’ needs.  Having a vast array of pets throughout our lives we can also cater for everything, from cats and dogs to tropical fish, reptiles and small furry animals.

Mhairi – I have had pets all my life; cats, dogs and fish were a constant factor in growing up.  after serving for 12 years as a member of the ROYAL military police in such exciting places as Germany, Iraq, Poland, Northern Ireland, The Falkland Islands and across the UK I decided to hang up My handcuffs and move on to pastures new.  Having worked most jobs out there in the service industry from stacking shelves, to driving a home delivery vehicle around the North Yorkshire Moors I finally settled in hospitality.  Although these jobs were all enjoyable I knew this wasn’t where my true passion lay.

Making the decision earlier this year to work alongside my husband paddy I created the dog walking and pet sitting service wee county walkies.  instantly finding joy in this  work, I love nothing more than spending time with your pets.  As an avid dog owner and now mum to three gorgeous little sugar gliders I am keen to expand my knowledge of various pets and how to best meet their needs.  I am currently studying a Dog walkers & sitters association certification course and I am also fully insured to walk and care for your pets. My hobbies include reading, walking ( I challenge myself to walk at least 150 miles every month… I may have to up that target now!!!), listening to music, singing badly and spending time with our amazing 6 year old son.  He will be out and about with us when he is not at school as he has decided when he grows up this is the job he wants too! We’ll see how long that lasts……..

Paddy – I’ve always had pets in the family; from dogs and cats to fish, birds and even rats.  I joined the RAF as a policeman in 1999, having the wildest and most engaging career in places like Saudi Arabia, Poland, the Falkland islands, Kuwait, Bahrain and even Norfolk!  My career expanded in 2002 when I became a protection dog handler which was soon followed up with a dog training course, vehicle search handlers course (checking out all vehicles for explosives and weapons) and then what I thought was the pinnacle; a drug detection handlers course. I worked alongside police agencies all over the country, including all branches of service police and civilian constabularies, mainly Thames valley police.

during my handling career I expressed an interest in instruction so I gained a number of teaching courses so that I could share my knowledge and experience.  I taught new and experienced handlers from all services in the courses I was qualified in, and also became a CMI level 5 coach, leader and mentor so that I could assist instructors of all ranks and abilities in the armed forces. this became my real passion and watching students or instructors expand their skills was the most rewarding thing I had done in life!

My love for dogs and coaching led me to start Pad’s Paws & Play and it grows massively everyday. my hobbies include reading, playing guitar, singing, collecting new and interesting swearwords and engaging in the terrifying torture activity that is golf.
