Kennel Suites

Accommodation at Elmtree is ‘all suite’ with each kennel coming with its own separate leisure and sleeping areas. Each of our dog guests enjoy a private, fully covered exercise area where they can exercise throughout the day and a separate quiet area where they can settle down and relax. Each suite has been designed to keep guests as comfortable and contented as possible. They benefit from a temperature controlled environment that ensures the suites are cosy in the winter and cool in the summer and all have an outdoor aspect. We have a number of suites that are equipped with ‘Pet Watch’, an online webcam viewing service, for owners who like to see how their pet is getting on (this feature is charged at a cost of £3.00 per day).

Nutrition

A well fed dog is a happy dog and we cater for all dietary requirements. We provide only the highest quality pet food to our guests and our brand of choice is James Wellbeloved, a complete natural hypoallergenic dry food that provides a fully balanced diet. It comes in a range of flavour varieties which are rotated throughout a guest’s stay to ensure maximum anticipation and enjoyment at feeding time. We appreciate that some guests will prefer wet foods and this is also catered for. We are also happy to maintain preferred feeding regimes. With this service owners are required to bring their pet’s food with them.

Wellbeing & Welfare

We all love going on holiday but for some encountering new and strange surroundings can be a daunting experience. We want guests at Elmtree to feel immediately at home so we encourage owners to bring with them favourite items such as toys and bedding & blankets so their dog feels as comfortable and relaxed as possible. At Elmtree we care passionately about our guests and will treat your dog as our own giving it all the attention it needs to ensure it settles in quickly and enjoys its time with us to the full. Enjoying time with us might include a session in our Spa where guests can enjoy grooming, bathing and manicuring services.

Chauffer Service

For owners whose schedules make it difficult for them to bring their dog to and from Elmtree we have introduced a chauffeured ‘collect and return’ service. Guests are brought to the hotel in the comfort of our specially adapted air conditioned vehicles by members of our team who specialise in animal transfers. Please ask for details.

Security & Safety

The security and safety of guests is of paramount importance to us. We have CCTV cameras throughout the hotel that are monitored from reception during the working day and have a constant security presence throughout the night and on Sundays when, except for prearranged pick ups, Elmtree is closed to the public.

Vaccinations

We want all the animals in our care to remain healthy and unfortunately we cannot admit any guest to Elmtree who is not up-to-date with their vaccinations. On arrival we will require evidence that dogs have been vaccinated for the following;

• Distemper
• Hepatitis
• Leptospirosis
• Canine Parvovirus
• Bordetella (kennel cough)

No pet will be admitted without proof of up-to-date vaccinations.

Medication

If medication needs to be administered this will be undertaken provided the animal accepts the medication without resistance, and that it can be administered by one of our non veterinary qualified Kennel Team.

Veterinary Services

In the unfortunate event that a guest becomes ill whilst staying with us we have access to veterinary services 24 hours a day. Our practice of choice is Village Vet who can be found at www.villagevet.co.uk. Please notify us on arrival of any ongoing treatments or known medical conditions affecting your dog. Please note that we reserve the right to refuse admission to Elmtree of any guest showing signs of ill health.

Our aim is to cater for each guest’s individual needs and have made provision for those who prefer a calmer environment with a dedicated quiet area. When booking please inform one of our team of any special requirements your dog may have. At Elmtree we care for guests who experience:

The bath also features a warm water function to increase circulation.

This is a fantastic way to treat your pet to 15-20 minutes of relaxation and it is also highly recommended by vets for many different conditions.

Your dog, our guest, will enjoy the facilities at Elmtree Canine Country Club which include their own private room, 5 acres of fully enclosed woodland, enclosed grass paddocks, splash pools, an outdoor agility arena and much more.

FAQ’s

What times do you drop and collect?

We collect in the morning between 7am & 9.30am and we start dropping dogs home from 4pm. Most of our clients are not home during these hours and therefore provide us with keys to their property. We have fully comprehensive key holders insurance and are familiar with many different alarm/entry systems.

Do you pick up from anywhere?

We have a catchment area in North London that we pick up from. Please contact us on: 07488515811 to find out if you are within the area. Please note – this catchment area is for day care only. Our boarding guests can be collected from anywhere in the UK.

Can we drop our dog to the Doggy Day Care Centre?

Yes – You can drop your dog off at the day care centre from 8am and collect any time up to 6pm.

Do you feed the dogs?

We ask owners to provide food for their dogs whilst at day care, or feed them before and after they come to us.

Do you mix all the dogs together?

We split the dogs into groups based on their energy levels and size. Each of the groups get to spend time in the different exercise areas.

Are the dogs left outside all day?

The dogs have rooms for rest and feeding time in between walks where they share with a suitable dog – this will be a dog that they get along with from their group. We try to match them with someone they will rest with rather than play. If for any reason they are not able to share, they can have their own space. The rooms are kept cool in the summer and have under floor heating for the winter. The dogs have water available at all times.

Where is my dog exercised?

We have 5 acres of fully enclosed woodland and grass fields for them to run off lead and play. 8ft high fences surround our site ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

Do I need to send anything in with my dog?

We provide bedding inside and toys for outside play so they just need to come in on a lead and with their food if needed.

What happens if my dog gets injured?

In the extremely unlikely event of your dog being injured we would take them straight to our local vet, Village Vets in Winchmore Hill. We are also trained and qualified to attend to minor injuries but we always take great care to ensure your pet’s safety.

How do you transport the dogs?

Each dog has their own space in our climate controlled, air conditioned vans. Our vehicles are fitted out by the award winning “Lintran K9 Transit”. The interiors of our vans are designed with your dog’s safety and comfort in mind.

Are you looking for dog training and puppy training in London, Hertfordshire or Essex? Lyn Wilson owns Happy Dogs Training School which is based at Elmtree Canine Country Club on the borders of Enfield and Waltham Cross in Hertfordshire/North London.

Happy Dogs Training offers a large and varied dog and puppy training class timetable spread across weekends and evenings. Our instructors regularly attend seminars and courses to ensure we offer a wide range of up to date methods of training in all fields. Dog and puppy training is very important for your pet; they need to have their mind and body stimulated on a regular basis and attending classes gives you and your dog the opportunity to learn new skills and meet new friends.

All dog owners have a responsibility to ensure their dog is socially acceptable and we begin by working with you on the basic principles. Where you decide go from there with your dog is up to you – a well trained dog can be so much fun.

Our trainers are all very passionate about helping you to develop a wonderful relationship with your four legged friend. We use a wide variety of training methods individually tailored to suit your needs. Any age or ability welcome – both people and dogs!

We aim to provide you with the confidence and knowledge to train your dog to be happy, sociable and well behaved. Our main emphasis is on responsible dog ownership with the opportunity to work towards puppy Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. Lyn Wilson

Hi, I’m Lyn Wilson, owner of Happy Dogs Training in North London. I have two dogs who also participate in a wide range of classes all for fun; they have both passed their Gold Good Citizen Award and take part in our Display Team and promoting responsible dog ownership. I have been involved with dogs all my life and for the last 20 years have been interested in dog training and behaviour. I am passionate about responsible dog ownership and the healthy balance of owning a well-trained dog and still have a life with work, family, and hobbies. I have attended and assisted at many different training clubs before deciding to set up a training centre which could offer everything that the owners I speak to want. We now have an amazing facility that boasts a wide range of classes to satisfy everyone. We have a display team that attends local school fetes and shows to promote responsible dog ownership and to show what fun a well trained dog can be.

I am experienced in the fields of pet obedience, working gun dogs, scent work, Hoopers and agility using a variety of training methods. I have attended college for canine studies (theory and practical) and I am working towards Kennel Club Accreditation. I am an Affiliated Member of the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers and the RCDTBP and Instructor qualified with the I.A.B.T.C as well as being a qualified Agility Instructor and a qualified Advanced Instructor with the P.D.T.I.

Emma Duncan

Happy Dogs Trainer

Emma joined the Happy Dogs team in 2018 and gained her PDTI instructors qualification in 2019. Her rescue Staffie named Pretzel is always out and about with her trying lots of new and exciting training, including paddle board classes which along with Puppy Classes, Parkour, Hoopers and our Good Citizen classes, Emma also teaches here at Happy Dogs. So if you fancy trying something slightly different training wise with your dog, Emma is happy to offer advice, she likes to spend time really getting to know all the puppies and owners who join her courses to make sure she can tailor her training advice to each individual.

Jane

Happy Dogs Trainer

Jane has been involved with dogs for more than 30 years with a particular love and passion for Rottweilers she has been lucky to share her life with. Jane is an approved dog trainer with The Guide of Dog Trainers and has a keen interest in Canine Behaviour. She is also currently studying for a diploma in Advanced Canine Behaviour with the British College of Canine Studies.
