What We DoĀ

Here at Dogs Country Club we believe that is vital that the dogs split their time between activities that are physically stimulating, mentally stimulating, and ‘down time’.

Physical stimulationĀ is important in order to reduce your dogā€™s energy and manage their excitability. Our day care dogs receive this through:

  • Interaction & play with other dogs
  • Running through our secure fields
  • Swimming in our fresh water lake
  • Practicing balance & coordination on our agility equipment

Mental Stimulationis important in order to teach your dog to think for itself and to find excitement in learning new things. Our day care dogs receive this through:

  • Scent games
  • Basic obedience
  • Interactive toys
  • Whistle recall training

Down Timeis important as dogs need plenty of sleep and rest in order for them to be happy and enjoy a balanced life style. Puppies, youngĀ dogs & older dogs in particular need more down time than adult dogs which we are able to accomodate.

Our day care is open Monday to Friday 6:30am – 7pm. All dogs must be dropped off for their day with us before 10am.

Dog Grooming Salon

Grooming is essential for all dogs, regardless of age, breed, and fur type. A regular groom is beneficial to a dogā€™s health and well-being, allowing their coat and skin remain healthy. Brushing aids in coat ventilation through the removal of old, and damaged hair, whereas regular bathing can keep the levels of grease down on a dogā€™s skin, preventing pore blockages that lead to skin problems.

Puppyā€™s First Groom – Ā£25

A puppyā€™s first groom is very important as it allows them to experience the sights, sounds, and smells within a grooming environment from a young age. This prepares them for future grooms and allows them to be more comfortable and even enjoy the experience as they grow and mature. It also allows them to feel more at ease and become accustomed to being handled by someone other than their owners. Handling from a young age prevents fear of being handled in other environments such as day care, and veterinary practices. Puppy’s first groom is for dogs up to 5Ā months old.

A puppy groom includes:

  • Bath and Blow Dry
  • Nail Trim
  • Ear Clean
  • Hygiene Trim (in long haired breeds)
  • Eye Trim (in long haired breeds)

Full Groom

A full groom is suitable for all dogs and is catered to the customerā€™s requirements and specifications. The full groom will start with a pre-groom, this involves a full physical check of the dogā€™s eyes, ears, pads, nails, coat, and skin. This gives the groomer an idea on what the dogs may need overall i.e., matt removal, specialist shampoo treatment, parasite removal. It will also give the groomer an idea of areas they may need to be more delicate with. Brushing will also be done before bathing to remove any knots and tangles.

Following the pre-groom, your dog will be bathed then brushed again, followed by a full blow dry. If your dog requires cutting/ shaving, styling, this will be done once the dog is fully dried and comfortable. The style will be subject to the customers preferences and groomers’ discretion. If it is found that the dog requires more work due to matting, the groomer will discuss this with the customer prior. If your dog has a specific skin complaint or similar, then we’ll happily discuss this with you and decide upon a suitable grooming product. We carry multiple shampoo and skin conditioning products that are designed to alleviate certain conditions and work in harmony with your dogs skin.

Nervous/ Anxious Dogs

We understand that not all dogs enjoy being groomed and can have had bad previous experiences at the groomers. This can make it difficult to provide the services they need. For a nervous dog groom, we allocate 30 minutes on a regular basis (usually 2-3 weeks) to get them more comfortable with the grooming process. Splitting the grooming process down means the dog has shorter sessions but more frequently and each 30-minute slot will progress. For example, one session may
include bathing and drying, and the next slot will be clipping. Each session will begin at Ā£20 per slot.

These sessions will usually include:

  • Using a brush or comb on the dog whilst rewarding them.
  • Rewarding the dog whilst stroking and touching differentĀ areas such as the feet and legs.
  • Having the noise of the clippers whilst being rewarded.
  • Having the blaster on and rewarding.
  • Cutting small amounts of the fur to ease them into the process.
  • Having the dog get used to being on the table and in the restraints.
