Improving Your Dog’s Life Through Holistic Wellness & Massage

Supporting dog owners & professionals

Achieve and improve canine wellness, and behaviour problems –  using force free and fear free ethics. With a treatment plan that is specific and tailored to your dog. Using my unique programme of the following:-

  • Herbs and Essential Oils (Self-Selection)

  • Bach Flower Essences

  • Massage

  • Freework

  • Home Exercise Plans

These methods help to strengthen the human to dog bond, to bring comfort and wellbeing to both.

It is well understood that our dogs pick up on our emotions and can actually mirror our stresses. If we are stressed our dog can be too.

A lot of behaviour issues are pain related which often go undiagnosed –  and either the dog gets put into kennels, or worse euthanised. Pain needs to always be ruled out. The signs of pain can be extremely subtle (check out the blog section).

On initial appointment I will conduct a thorough health, posture, and musculature assessment and if needed I will liaise with your vet. I will then develop a specific and individual plan for your dog that we will work through together.

1st appointment £55 an hour and a half duration

Follow up appointment up to an hour £45

Outside of Cardiff mileage costs will incur at 46p per mile.

Online consultations via Zoom may be possible – please do ask.

Canine Massage

Therapeutic for your dog’s needs

Canine Massage involves a thorough understanding of your animal’s natural and individual history.  I work within your dog’s comfort zone, not against them – they are able to move and walk around whenever they feel the need to.

Initially I need to seek your veterinarian’s approval – you are welcome to do this or if you wish I can contact them for you (please see attached form).

Once approval has been given, I will conduct a comprehensive gait, posture and musculoskeletal assessment, then I will proceed with appropriate massage.

You will be given a full report and specific aftercare advise – which may include exercises and or stretching to help with any related problems or compensatory issues.

All this is done in the comfort of your dog’s home – so they feel safe and secure in their own environment.

Canine Massage can help with the following:

* Pain Relief

* Injury Recovery

* Pre and Post Surgery

* Mobility

* Stiffness

* Lameness

* Arthritis

* Palliative Care

* Some Behavioural Concerns

Why not claim with your dog’s Insurance Policy?

Most insurance policies allow this – but please check.

Cost for Initial Treatment/Assessment is £55 (1.5hrs)

Cost for Follow Ups is £45 (1hr)

Travel expenses per mile may incur outside Cardiff

Pet Loss Support

Pet Bereavement Counselling

Hello, I’m Kirstey a professional pet loss and pet bereavement counsellor and member of the Society of Bereavement Practitioners. I am here to help you with the loss of your much-loved companion animal (support available in and outside the UK). Together we will work through this heart-breaking time to reach a happier place in which you will be able to focus on the special memories that you shared and not dwell on these sad times. I have suffered pet loss and struggled through it and at times I didn’t want to continue with my life – everything was numb, no colour, everything was matt. Now I am stronger and can help you be too – there is no need to suffer in silence – please I can help you.
Your grief is unique to you.

Palliative Care

Time for Your Pet

Latin word Palliare which means to ‘cloak’.

Imagine wrapping an extra layer of comfort and protection, shielding you from the harms of the illness.

Palliative care is given to a dog as he or she approaches the end of life through old age or illness.

Palliative care is not a curative therapy but a comforting hug.

During these difficult times we can support our dog with massage for physical, emotional, and spiritual comfort – enhancing their quality of life for as long as they live. In doing so we provide comfort to ourselves too.

Massage is applied very gently and slowly (passive touch and hypnotic stroking adapted to suit the dogs comfort level), giving undivided attention to help provide relaxation, decrease anxiety, agitation, pain intensity and stiffness.

The aim of palliative care is to make your dog’s final days as comfortable and as enjoyable as possible.

Palliative care may also include physical therapy through scent enrichment, with options that can extend both your dog’s quality of life and the time you get to spend enjoying each other.

Cost up to an hour £42

A recent client Brody was suffering with mobility problems, I am very pleased that our girl is managing so much better – here’s what they had to say:

‘’Kirstey was amazing with Brody, we were so worried about her slowing down and stopping on a walk. Kirstey helped Brody’s stiffness with massage and scent work and the difference in Brody is amazing. She is like a new dog less stiff and more engaging with us. Kirstey taught us massage techniques that we are using at home and exercise to help her mobility. We would highly recommend her, thank you Kirstey.’’
