Canine Company Newry & Mourne

I live in Glassdrumman, Newry, N.Ireland and I am owned by three fabulous Labradors named Paddy, Ruby and Bella, enjoying long walks in the forest, finding new adventures and exploring with all our new found canine friends.

I have always had a keen interest in animals and started work in the veterinary field as a volunteer at my local vets at 12 years of age. I began my veterinary nursing studies at Greenmount College in 2005. In 2007 I started working with an old time friend and small animal orthopaedic surgeon which I absolutely loved! In 2010 I decided to expand my knowledge to the equine world obtaining my British Horse Society (BHS) exams.
I then took some time out of practice to be with my beautiful daughter in 2011, only working part-time in retail, but was still drawn to the animal world.

During this time out, I developed a keen interest in dog behaviour and training beginning with a BAC accredited course in Dog Behaviours & Psychology in 2016, this ignited a huge passion to learn more about how the dogs mind works. I obtained a “2 Day Career as a Dog Trainer” certificate from The Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) in 2017 and followed on with a 4 Day Practical Instructor’s Course in 2018 also from the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT). More recently I have been awarded “The Puppy School Tutor Certificate” in 2019, travelling to England on a number of occasions I underwent rigorous training from like-minded people developing positive training methods to share with new puppy owners.

I have since returned to Newry Veterinary Centre, on a part time basis and started my own dog walking and training business in 2017, Canine Company Newry & Mourne.

  We will be running 6 week courses of Puppy School Classes in Three Ways Community Center, Well Lane, Newry, BT34 1HE. Free puppy socialisation walks will also be on offer for our Puppy School family. Please contact me for more information and to book a place.
