Calmer Companions

Having grown up being fascinated by animals and their behaviour, I have spent the best part of two decades studying and working with a range of species.

My passion to learn about how animals communicate has seen me go through animal care college where I gained a BTEC National Diploma in Animal Management. I then went on to university where I gained a BSc (Hons) in Animal Behaviour and an MSc in Companion Animal Behaviour Counselling with a focus on dogs and cats. I am a provisional member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC) which means I have gained the relevant academic qualifications and I am now gaining the practical experience necessary for full membership. I qualified as a Puppy School Tutor in 2018 and keep my knowledge up to date by reading books/journals and attending CPD events. I am a qualified Level 2 Reiki practitioner for animals and humans, dog first aid trained and a raw advisor with Natures Menu.

My experience managing a large boarding establishment and running my own pet care company has enabled me to gain a deep understanding of what dogs need to feel safe, secure and ready to learn. I’d like to help others gain the confidence and skills to do the same. I have also witnessed the positive impact that early socialisation and training can have on dogs lives. My passion lies in creating lasting bonds between a puppy and their owner using positive, reward-based learning. My approach is calm, methodical and supportive. This creates an atmosphere where people can share their ups and downs with each other in class, allowing them to get the most out of the experience. Puppy classes should be fun and rewarding for everyone involved and the calmer the atmosphere, the better equipped the puppies and their owners are to learn, focus on each other and bond. I encourage all of the family to attend and join in with classes, this will enable consistency within your puppies training.

I have enjoyed many years of pet ownership, and with my dog Rolo have been through all the trials and tribulations an active puppy brings to your life. We spent most of his life trying different sports and hobbies until his passing in 2017. We hope to welcome another dog into our family soon.

Please note that we are currently offering Puppy School & SuperPup classes but are not currently offering 121 help due to our head trainer being on maternity leave. We do however have a waiting list for February 2024, if you would like to be added to this then please contact us using the form below.

Our office hours are 9am until 4pm, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Due to the nature of our work we spend a lot of time with clients and their pets. Therefore, we aim to reply within 3 working days in line with our office hours. We do not work Weekends or Bank Holidays. Please check your spam/junk email in case our reply has made its way into there.

If we have not seen your pet we are unable to give advice via email or other means, other than to discuss which services may suit you.
