ABOUT

Lucinda Parkes – Salon Owner

My whole life I have been surrounded by dogs and horses, and always found myself ‘practicing’ hair styles on all the dogs as I dreamt about being a dog groomer. I went on to gain a first class degree in Wildlife Conservation, and worked in the ecological sector. Until I decided to go back to my real life passion and train to be a fully qualified dog groomer. After a lot of research to find the right training school and teachers, I came across the prestigious Dogs Delight training school in Chiswick. With a strict training course and exceptional mentoring, I passed my OCN qualification with Distinction.

I came across BarkShear Grooming and took on the wonderful business and all the lovely 2 and 4 legged customers from previous owner Nicky. I am now part time working around my family and new baby (George) luckily I have a wonderful team who produce and deliver the same expertise I do.

Emma Gillis – Dog Groomer

Emma trained at the renowned ‘Groom Arts Academy’ in London and passed her Level 2 with flying colours. Before she set her sights on the dog grooming industry she was a dog walker and managed to expand her knowledge in dog behaviour. For her it was a natural progression to then move into dog grooming world and I am so glad she did, with her creative flair and attention to detail, we are lucky to have her. Emma is now grooming dogs and working towards her level 3, which you don’t necessarily need to have as a groomer, but her thirst for striving forwards and challenging herself is clearly apparent.

SERVICES

Shampoo

I use a variety of different products, however the main shampoo I will be using is ‘Wild Wash’. It smells beautiful but is also super kind on your dogs skin.

-100% Natural = NO Parabens, Phthalates, Phosphates, Petrochemicals, Sulfates or PEG’s

-Full transparency of all the ingredients that go into each product

– 100% Pure Essential Oils – NO Extracts, Infusions or Synthetic or Semi Synthetic Fragrances

Brush, Fluff and Dry

I only offer hand drying, no cage dryers are used. For our long haired dogs, I offer a full brush and fluff drying service, this is provided in both packages.

Hand Stripping

I offer a hand stripping service, however I will need to have a consultation before to determine whether your dogs coat is ready for hand stripping. I will also discuss pricing at the consultation, as this will cost a little more than a breed/style cut due to the amount of time it takes to strip a dogs coat.

Hownd Paw Massage Treatment

The feet and pads of your dog are areas that are often overlooked and can develop splits and damage due to constant wear and tear from pavements, gravel and stones. The ‘Royal Paw’ Treatment starts with a deep soak to soften the pads, finally the application of an organic paw balm to help repair pads. This is an indulgent treatment that every pooch deserves.

Hownd Facial Treatment

I always think this sounds so funny, a dog having a facial. However, its actually an amazing product and I couldn’t recommend it enough. It’s a very gentle product which can be used closely around the dogs eyes without harming. It also smells divine!!! This treatment is highly recommended for dogs with wrinkles or folds where dirt can become trapped causing irritation.

De-Matting

If I am unable to brush out your dog’s Matts in the brush and fluff dry stage, the only option would be is to do a complete clip off. This would be in your dog’s best interest, as any longer time with matts, will not only be uncomfortable for your dog but also end up causing severe pain to his/hers skin. This will be discussed during the initial consultation. (Please see the Terms and conditions tab for more information.)
