Why is Dog Grooming Important?

When choosing a dog you may not consider straight away it’s grooming requirements, but before long your cockerpoo or siberian husky is going to need a lot of taking care of. Not only is the coat going to need a lot of brushing but each individual breed has different requirements to keep the coat healthy. From hand stripping to full clips a dog groomer will look after your dogs coat. I normally recommend that your dog is groomed every 4-6weeks to maintain a healthy coat. Regular nail trims are also very important unless your dog is able to wear them down naturally. If the dog is forced to walk on untrimmed nails this can lead to joint issues and deformaties of the foot. Dogs with a heavy coat that shed will need regular brushing to remove the dead coat so that thier skin can breathe. Whilst dogs that do not shed their coat can very quickly become matted if not combed through regularly.

My name is Caroline Barber and I have been working with animals for over thirty years. Starting with my own dog training classes at the age of 6 with my 2 cocker spaniels. Eventually I got a job working as a veterinary nurse at Kingston Vets in Pembroke where I gained much experience with dogs, their behaviour health needs and the care we as owners should be giving them.

I have been Dog Grooming now for 17 years
As well as a wealth of experience
I have qualifications in canine and equine psychology and canine nutrition as well as taking a course in Dog Obediance Training.
I am presently studying Holistic Heatlh and Therapy and Herbalism for Canines.
