Aeolian House Dog Training & Boarding Kennels – Darlington

Be the first to review

Aeolian House and the history so far

In 2002 it came to fruition. Even though the house came with the history of the Ann Heron murder, they were not put off. It is a fantastic location on the A67 between Durham Tees Valley Airport and Darlington also Hartlepool, Northallenton, Stockton, Durham covers just off the A66.

It is now a family run enterprise with all 4 children – Louis, Evie, Jack and Angel aka Gromit – all involved in the day to day running of the business.

The boarding kennels and cattery are modern purpose built facilities, accommodating 50 cats and 96 dogs. The complex exceeds the model licence conditions and guidelines for boarding establishments. The kennels are fully central heated, and are surrounded by 5 acres of woods and countryside – an ideal location for exercising and training dogs.

A wildlife pond has been developed to attract the newts, frogs and other pond life. This was located close to the outside of the cattery to give added amusement for the cats.

Louise has been actively involved with rescuing dogs for many years. The first being a Briard, Estee. She had been used as a brood bitch and was in a terrible state physically and mentally. Unbeknownst to Louise, she was also in pup, and one night Louise awoke to find a litter of puppies on her bed with Estee laying by her side. 7 Briard puppies. Suitable homes were found for all bar two. This was how Andy and Louise were to meet, as dog training was required!

Andy has worked with dogs all of his life. As a boy he had sheepdogs and gun dogs. At the age of 17, he joined the Royal Air Force Police and became a Police Dog Handler.

He competed in dog trials at the highest level, being selected 3 times for the RAF Police Dog Championships, twice for the RAFP Northern Ireland Championships and twice for the RAFP Cyprus Championships. Since leaving the Royal Air Force Police, he has remained actively involved with training dogs, providing dog training classes for puppies and adult dogs as well as behaviour training for difficult dogs and also personal protection dogs (i.e. for celebrities and VIPs). Several dogs have been trained and exported abroad. Both Andy and Louis have competed in dog trials and working tests with gun dogs that we have bred by ourselves in the UK.
Our dog creche in Darlington is a fantastic means of helping your dog become more social and get a bit of exercise at the same time. Dogs left at home can become stressed – this then may develop into persistent barking and the destruction of property or fouling inside the house. Once dogs have had a taste of our dog creche, they love it!

We provide a daily dog creche operating Monday- Friday. We open 07:00 hours- 18:00hours and we’re closed 12:00 hours – 15:00 hours.

This part of the business is very busy and well attended.

All dogs are on a yearly contract and you pay a set amount every month, whether your dog attends or not. Your space is always available and guaranteed for boarding.

If you are not able to pick your dog up by the cut off time, your dog will be fed and bedded down for the night in one of our rooms. There is a small charge for this and it is cheaper than the dog boarding charges.

We do not operate a dog creche on weekends or bank holidays.

All dogs are catered for from puppies to adult dogs. They are paired off into suitable groups ((younger dogs) (larger dogs) (smaller dogs) (older dogs)). Dogs that are unsocial with other dogs will be exercised on their own.

We do not accept dogs that are aggressive towards people. An assessment will be made for all dogs wishing to attend the creche and on completion, a decision will be made whether they’re deemed suitable or not.

Assuming your dog passes the assessment, they will all play as a group/pack. All play is supervised outdoor fun, regardless of the weather – sun, rain or snow. Unless it is torrential rain or thunder and lightning, your dog will be out playing with his canine mates. You will be amazed how quickly friendships are formed.
