Some cats don’t do well in a cattery. Maybe they get anxious and upset in strange places with strange sounds and smells or maybe they feel unhappy when they can’t hop in and out of the cat flap to the great outdoors.
Cosy Cat Care takes care of your cat in your own home so you cat never has to leave familiar surroundings and you can feel confident that your furry family member is as happy as possible while you are away.
If you don’t have a family member or neighbour who can look in on your small pets it is often hard to know how to make sure they are safe and well while you are away.
I take care of a wide range of smaller pets, from rabbits through to ferrets and degus. Whether your pet likes a bit of a cuddle or would rather I just make sure it has plenty of food and a nice clean home, I can make sure your pet stays safe and well while you enjoy your break or focus on your business trip.
It can be hard to find someone with the knowledge and experience to take care of your exotic pet. I have lots of experience caring for everything from snakes and reptiles to amphibians and insects.
I have a level 2 exotic animal care certification and plenty of experience with handling, feeding and cleaning, so you can rest assured that your pet is in safe hands while you are away.
When they get older dogs don’t have the energy to run around for an hour anymore and don’t enjoy the walks that they used to. This doesn’t mean that they are happy to stay alone at home all day though, especially when they learned long ago they should go outside to ‘do their business’ and can get distressed by not being able to wait.
I can drop in on your older dog and give them some much needed cuddles and company, as well as let them out for a comfort break.
My name is Julie Coutts and I have been working with animals in Harrogate, walking dogs as Muddy Paws and looking after cats, small pets, and exotic animals as Cosy Cat Care since 2008. While I own and predominantly run the business, my parents and partner do occasionally help out.
I have always had a passion for animals and had a whole menagerie of pets as a child, including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, rats, budgies, canaries and gecko’s so when it came to deciding on a career it was an easy choice to go to university to study animal care. I have lived and worked with animals all my life and understand exactly how worrying it can be to leave your pets in the care of someone inexperienced or under-qualified.
Alongside my BSc (Hons) in Animal Management I also hold pet first aid certificates and a UKOC qualification level two in Exotic Animal Care. I have studied animal behaviour and psychology (specialising in dogs) and have work experience including veterinary practices, boarding cattery & kennels, caring for Big Cats with the Wildlife Heritage Foundation and many years of taking care of a whole range of pets in the Harrogate area running my own business.
