Welcome To Heart Dog Grooming Salon

At Heart Dog® Grooming Salon in Whitby, we passionately care about your dog’s whole wellbeing.  Our mission is to put kindness at the heart of everything we do when caring for both dogs and puppies alike.

We offer a range of services to take care of all breeds, ages, coat types and personalities.  Your dog is unique, and we like to treat them that way.  This is why we offer tailored support specific to their needs that goes beyond the groom room.

About Heart Dog

Hello, I’m Zoe – Owner, Team Leader, and Head Groomer of Heart Dog Grooming Salon here in Whitby, North Yorkshire.

We are a small close-knit team, passionate about creating a positive experience for your dogs during their time with us.  We work with you to ensure that your dog gets the best clip or trim for their breed, coat type and lifestyle.

Grooming can be a little weird for puppies and dogs, with large noisy equipment and being away from their people.  It’s important to us that your dogs feel content, calm and fear-free during their groom.  There is nothing we love more than seeing happy wagging tails trotting through our front door.

Holistic Grooming

We love to give your dogs a beautiful haircut, but dog grooming is so much more than hairdressing for dogs.

Our focus is on creating a stress free, calm environment for your dog; using enrichment activities, treats, games, and plenty of breaks.

Considering how puppies and dogs are feeling from the inside and out, makes sure that they are happy to be handled by their groomer and by you at home.

We support our clients beyond the standard “drop your dog off for a haircut” type groom.  We provide education and training so that you can learn how to brush and maintain your dogs coat in-between visits, to keep your Heart Dog free from tats and tangles.

Grooming Salons Can Be a Little Weird for Dogs…

With the large noisy equipment, being in a new place, the smells of other puppies / dogs and strange humans, the experience of visiting a groomers can be daunting for dogs.

Put yourself in the dog’s paws – you are asked to stand on a table for a length of time, you have a person touching your body, pulling about your fur, putting fingers in your mouth and twiddling your toes.  It’s no surprise that some dogs can get a little grumpy!

This can sometimes lead to behaviour problems, such as a dog growling, snapping, or trying to escape.  These are all warning signs that the dog has had enough.
