Brackenhill Boarding Kennels & Cattery

Be the first to review

Situated within the North York Moors National Park with stunning views over the Esk valley and towards the coast Brackenhill kennels and cattery offers the ideal setting for your pets stay with us.

The kennels and Cattery are set within six acres of secure woodland and paddocks, in which we exercise the dogs, on leads. There are also two large, secure, outdoor grass runs separate from the kennels where the dogs can play freely or interactive play with kennel staff. The dogs are always exercised individually or in family groups whether on leads or in the runs.

To ensure your pet has a healthy and happy stay at our kennels, we carry out daily health checks and monitor any changes in behaviour or habits.

The kennels and cattery are licensed with Scarborough Borough Council, are regularly inspected by the authority.

Inspection welcome during opening hours.

About Brackenhill Boarding Kennels and Cattery

Chris has spent the last 14 years of his 25 year career in the Fire Service as a canine handler where he trained and worked dogs to find casualties and missing people in rubble, collapsed buildings and on wide area searches.

He was one of only a handful of canine handlers to successfully qualify as part of the UK’s international search and rescue team where he would be on call to deploy to natural disaster zones world wide at only a moments notice.

Chris’ job has taught him not only skills in how to train dogs for search work but also canine welfare and first aid. He teaches obedience and directional control through positive reward methods so the dog in training enjoys the work just as much as Chris does.

Chris went on to mentor other Fire Service search teams who all went on to successfully achieve their National and International assessments.

Chris’ qualifications and experiences in this  role will ensure your dog is in the very best of hands while having their own holiday while you are away.

Zelda has her very own love for dogs and has owned, cared for and rescued dogs into the family home for the past 25 years and is an avid cat lover. She has worked and volunteered in both kennels and catteries so has perfected the art of ensuring your pet has the best 5 star treatment. Zelda is now formalising her knowledge with a Kennel and Cattery diploma.

Kennels

There are two purpose build heated kennel blocks. All the kennels at Brackenhill have indoor and outdoor areas and come in various sizes to accommodate small or large dogs and family groups.

All bedding is provided (veterinary fleece), although we encourage owners to bring a blanket belonging to their pets that smells of home also their favourite toys.

We stock both complete and tinned dog foods as well as treats. We also understand that keeping your dogs normal dietary routine is important, so if you prefer to provide their own food we have the facility to store, weigh and feed dried tinned and raw frozen food.

Vaccinations

Your pet must have up to date vaccinations before they arrive at our boarding facility (Dogs must also have Kennel cough administered by your vet at least 7 days before boarding commences). This is to ensure the safety and health of your pet and our other guests at our boarding facility.
