ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Kathy and I’d like to tell you a little about myself.

I have loved animals, nature and the great outdoors since I was a child, when we had rabbits and guinea pigs as our pets.I was finally allowed to have a dog at 16 years of age,  a lovely 4 month old German Shepherd called Shane,  we attended the local dog training club, doing Obedience and then Agility and Flyball.

I had found a hobby I loved, and developed my first partnership with my dog.

 I have competed successfully over the years,  at Crufts in the Agility and  Flyball finals ,  in the Agility  at the renowned Olympia Horse Show  in London , also  achieving Advanced / Grade 7   and competing in Kennel Club Agility Championship tests .  

I have over 30 years experience of owning and handling different breeds, from large to small,  from German Shepherd to a Sheltie and a Border terrier cross, both from puppies and as rescues / rehomes. So I understand that all dogs are different, as are their personalities. I have looked after friends’ and family pets over the years and thoroughly enjoyed it.

 My occupation for 32 years as a Registered General Nurse in the NHS has been very fulfilling , but I had wanted to work with animals for a long time,  so when an opportunity came  I took the plunge, so I am very pleased to finally be achieving this. 

I currently have a border collie, a lurcher and a cocker spaniel, all very different , and they are precious to me.  I have been lucky that my Mum has been able to look after my dogs over the years, while I was at work, and on other occasions,  but also know that sometimes it can be difficult to find someone you can trust to follow  your instructions in caring for your precious furry family friend,  so this is what I would like to do for you. 

I have completed the course “ How to run a safe and successful Dog Walking Business , am insured, DBS checked and have a Canine First Aid Certificate.

I am registered with NarpsUK (National Association of Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers) 

I abide by the RSPCA Professional Dog Walkers Guidelines.

More recently I have achieved the Ofqual Regulated Level 3 Qualification in Professional Day care and Boarding with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) OCN accredited. This relates to canine care and welfare.
