We’re so lucky to have three fur babies in our family.
When Phil and I met, he already had Wood the cat and I had Roo who was still a fluffy little pup. Something didn’t quite feel right and we knew in our hearts our fur family wasn’t quite complete. A year later we added Tiger to our family and now we are blessed with the most amazing fur family we could ever wish for.
Roo is our hard-working crazy Cocker Spaniel. Since I first went to Cheshire Show when I was a little girl I dreamt of owning a Chocolate Cocker Spaniel who would be fully trained to all commands on the whistle. I’ve had Roo since she was a tiny 9-week old pup and now that she’s 7 years old I have achieved 50% of this dream.
I’ve found training to the whistle is harder than it looks and even harder with a Cocker! Roo is the first love of my life, we go everywhere together! We’re constantly training whilst out on our walks, she loves to learn.
Tiger is our Black Labrador who was born half trained and makes life so easy. She’s a sensitive little beast with a big heart and always wants to sit on your feet just to make sure she’s close to you.
Tiger is the kindest dog I’ve ever met, she adores children and is happiest when my niece and nephew come to play.
Wood is our sensible tabby cat and the most relaxed of all our fur babies. Wood disappears out of the house and out of sight when the doggies are bouncing around! He comes home once we’re all snuggled up and Roo & Tiger are snoozing in their beds. Wood is very clever, he knows there’ll always be a space on the sofa for him right next to his Daddy!
Hello my name is Sarah, I’m a professional dog walker based in Scholar Green, Staffordshire.
I’m fully insured and DBS checked, I’m also a human First Aider and Level 3 Canine First Aider – Certified by iPET NETWORK at The Open College Network. I’m trained to treat an injury, allergic reactions, stings, poisoning, choking, seizures, CPR, hypothermia and much more.
I specialise in fun, noisy and muddy, adventure-style walks in the Staffordshire countryside. I’m also an experienced house sitter. I’ve looked after many large properties and stables in Chelford, Wilmslow and Alderley Edge for a number of years.
My Story
I’ve always been passionate about animals and the outdoors. Growing up in the Cheshire countryside gave me the opportunity to have my first pony at 7 years old. I spent my childhood mucking out horses with my sister and riding across the open fields! I then moved on to competitive dressage and running a whole yard of beautiful horses.
Horses have been a huge part of my life, but sadly after being in an accident a number of years ago, I’ve had to alter my lifestyle and this is when I found my love for dogs.
Scholar Dogs
For the last few years before I started Scholar Dogs I worked for a large branded restaurant group. This job had nothing to do with being outdoors and on the weekends I couldn’t wait to get my muddy wellies on and head for the hills!
Searching for an outdoor activity that didn’t involve horses was difficult for me, but since having Roo my Cocker Spaniel, I’ve never been happier (you can read more about Roo and my other fur babies here).
When Emma from Mav’s Mates told me she was unable to walk our dogs anymore as she was closing her dog walking business, I saw this as an incredible opportunity. My heart skipped a beat and I knew at that very moment that a dog walking business would be the perfect job for me.
My Family
Roo is a Working Cocker and she loves to learn new skills. We joined a beating group at the Smallwood Shoot and this is where I met my partner Phil. For him, it was love at first sight… with Roo! Our family has grown so much since then and we now have Tiger- our loving Labrador, Wood- our sensible tabby cat and more recently our beautiful daughter who just started school.
Our home is always filled with family and children. We’re so lucky to have such close family around us, with nieces and nephews coming around to spend time with us and the dogs most days (probably just for the dogs!). Phil is an insured dog walker too, though he does have a day job. We enjoy long weekend dog walks together with our children, usually on the beach or roaming through the forest.
My Philosophy
Having worked full-time before I set up Scholar Dogs I know exactly how difficult it can be to find the right care for your dogs whilst you are working. I treat every dog as my own- making sure they always have fun and plenty of snuggles. Dogs in my care will be surrounded by family and children, giving them a home away from home with us.
Have a look around my website where you’ll find my services and prices. If there is something you need, but can’t find it here, then please do drop me a text and we can discuss your requirements.
Scholar Dogs boarding is a homely environment in our detached house. We have outdoor CCTV, electric gates and a large secure garden. Our home is located on a quiet dead-end private lane.
Home boarding means your dog will live as ours and include endless amounts of walking for the high energy guests.
Your pet will have a home away from home with us. They’ll have the benefit of lots of company and exercise.
We’ll send you daily photos and the occasional video to keep you updated.
We have an Animal Boarding Establishments Licence from Cheshire East Council and are fully insured to care for your pet.
Familiarisation
Prior to all bookings and deposits being taken, we welcome you to come over at an arranged time to see our home and meet our family- with your dog! It is extremely important our resident dogs and boarding dogs can live happily together.
Once we’ve introduced you to our family then we can go ahead and book a chargeable trial night.
Our dog walks are for groups of 6 dogs maximum at a time (one-to-one walks can be arranged). Each group is picked carefully, balancing the age and fitness of each group and how certain dogs interact with each pack. We provide different stimulation and scenery dependant on who is out that day.
We like our dog walks to be off lead where possible, to allow free running and play-time in the countryside whatever the weather. We’ve found some of the most beautiful quiet walks away from roads, cattle and other dog walkers (where possible) to keep your dog safe and secure and most of all happy. We aim for fun, noise, and mud!
We will collect your dog from your home in our van that is safety crated. After the walk he/she will be towelled down and cleaned off to the best of our ability and safely dropped back home for a well-earned sleep.
