Lida Vets in Newmarket

Be the first to review

Our friendly professional team is dedicated to all your pets’ needs, right here in at the heart of Newmarket. Our modern practice and 24/7 Emergency service allow us to deal with most small animal cases that come through to us.

We specialise in taking care of small animals. This includes cats, dogs, ferrets, hamsters, rabbits, etc. We take pride in the care that we provide ensuring the pet is the priority for us. We are a small personable practice who try and keep your visits as friendly and as easy as possible for you.

We are proud to be an accredited Silver level Cat Friendly Clinic and members of the ISFM (International Society of Feline Medicine).

Lida Vets was formed in 1991 by husband and wife Josh and Liz Lida. Initially, there were two rooms in what was then Greenwood Ellis and Partners at 166 High Street. In 1992 a little building next door became available and luckily, we were able to secure it. It was a quaint old building that saw at least two centuries of old Newmarket around it.

Originally, where the car parks are, there were small houses and it served as a workshop and then an Electricity Board station. Later it became a base for an oil research firm, and it was then that we had the building gutted and refitted as a modern veterinary practice.

We swiftly moved into our present premises and set out to be an independent practice dedicated purely to small animals. Over the years we have grown and developed our services.

The extension and renovation of reception took place in December 2015.  We joined Linnaeus Group in October 2018 with the retirement of Josh Lida.

Home Visits

Home visits can be arranged for consultations or treatments if it is not practical or possible for your pet to be brought to the practice. Because these have to be arranged outside the clinic appointments, we ask that home visits are booked at least 48 hours in advance if possible. In emergency situations, it is always preferable for the pet to be brought to the practice where we have a full range of medications and facilities.
