They quickly outgrew the original building, and in the summer of 2003 Flett & Carmichael relocated to the current site at 1, Garrison Road in Hatston Industrial Estate.
Liz and Kate’s vision for the practice was to provide a high quality, compassionate veterinary service to the animals of Orkney. We pride ourselves on our caring team and believe that our staff are our most important asset. The practice has grown and expanded over the years and our building has been extended to accommodate this.
In March 2019 Liz Flett stepped back from the running of the practice allowing Moira Sinclair and John Davidson to join Kate as partners of Flett & Carmichael. Being long term staff members they are keen to stay true to the values on which that the practice was established.
We want the relationship between us to be based on honesty and trust. We will always take the time needed to explain our findings and discuss investigation and treatment options. We will listen and answer any questions or concerns you may have, so that together we can shape treatment plans that work for you and your animals.
Continuity of care is paramount in developing this trust, and we aim for you to see the same vet wherever possible so we get to know you and your animals a whole lot better.
The veterinary surgeons at Flett and Carmichael have over 100 years of combined veterinary experience. All our team share a passion for delivering the kind of care we would all like to receive for our own pets, horses and livestock. Attending courses and conferences ensures our knowledge and skills are kept at the forefront of veterinary medicine.
We believe that a visit to the vets should be relaxed and as comfortable as possible for both you and your animals. When you visit Flett and Carmichael you will be greeted with genuine warmth and a familiar smile by a team who truly care.
For you and your animals our aim is to provide a positive experience. In the surgery we have raised cat shelves in our waiting area and separate dog and cat wards with music playing: your pet will be as calm and comfortable as possible whether visiting for a single consultation or a longer hospital stay. Our experienced nursing team are committed to the care of your pet while they visit the surgery and your animals will be cared for out-of-hours by the same veterinary team you know and trust.
