I welcome all breeds of dogs to be pampered in style with 1 – 1 care and specialise in Border Terrier Handstripping and Large Double Coated Breeds.

I offer bespoke groom schedules to maintain your dog with a healthy coat and skin condition.

You can choose from:

Breed Styling – bathed and styled to Kennel Club Breed Standard.
Bath & Brush Pamper – bathed and deshed brushout to remove dead undercoat.
Handstrip – the removal of blown guard hairs in line with the Breed Style. (No bath)
Puppy Intro – short intro to all of the noises and smells in the grooming environment. Includes scissor tidy and playtime. (No bath)

Shampoo – I bath dogs with natural shampoo. If your dog has a medical, health, or skin allergy issue please inform me so I can discuss suitable shampoo options. If you wish to provide a VET prescribed shampoo for your dogs groom I require written consent from your VET for me to apply this.

Matting – I will offer you my best advice on this matter at your dog’s initial pre-groom consultation . In relation to the Animal Welfare Act 2006 any dog found with severe matting in its coat will have to be clipped short for health reasons to reduce the risk of any further pain or suffering. Photographic evidence will be provided and an up charge of £10 will be incurred to cover the extra grooming time required. You will also be required to sign a disclaimer.

Fleas – If you aware your dog is suffering from a flea infestation please seek immediate vetinary attention and re-schedule your groom appointment. Should findings of fleas be discovered during the groom process then an up charge of £15 will be incurred to cover medicated shampoo , flea bombing of the groom room and cleaning time.

About Me

My love for animals began from my family upbringing in the Scottish countryside. My mum had a pet shop so I was surrounded by many pets. We had dogs, cats, horses, parrots, budgies, rabbits, hamsters, chickens, fish, a gerbil and a chinchilla.

Moving to Cornwall my love of dogs grew when I rescued a staffi x ridgeback called Stella. For 12 years Stella gave me loyalty, love and laughter. She brought a joy to my life and touched the hearts of many. Training and stability transformed her character and I volunteered with her as a Pets as Therapy Dog.

My current dogs are the Barking Buddies logo. They are Olly, a Golden Doodle (although he is black) and little Gem a Pugalier. I rehomed both dogs separately and over 5 years they have created a beautiful bond with each other and also with me. They share my bed and every morning I wake up feeling very blessed to have them share my life. I also have 2 chirpy budgies, Buddy and Kiwi and a 16 year old cat called Floyd.

My love of animals shows in my nature and how I treat them while in my care. When starting a friendship with your pet I aim to form a mutual trust from the initial meeting. I always welcome new paws to Barking Buddies from the heart and with a huge smile.

I studied at Duchy College for 2 years to gain my City & Guilds level 3 Dog Grooming Qualifications. I have set up a private garden groom room and I am excited to be able to welcome dogs big or small.
