Puppy Socialisation and Sensory Play Area

Let your puppy play in a safe area to fulfil their sensory needs and help develop their coordination. Various toys and day-to-day props and sounds will be on site to get your puppy used to them.

This session is also suitable for nervous or sensitive dogs and can be designed to help a dog overcome particular fears or anxieties.

An instructor will be on hand to show you how to reassure and encourage your dog as they explore each area.

  • This is a one-to-one session
  • A towel is recommended in case the dogs play in provided water (warm days only)
£30 for 1 hour

Puppy Foundation

For the outdoor sessions, puppies will be trained in an open field environment. For training off the lead, we use our enclosed area which is designed so that the dogs cannot escape.

The group will be small so that the puppies are not overwhelmed.

This course will run for 6 weeks (one session per week). Each session lasts 50 minutes.

The course covers:

  • Basic obedience and commands
  • Recalls (off lead in the secure puppy area)
  • Loose lead heel work
  • Greeting other dogs
  • How to examine your dog
  • Unwanted behaviours
£60 for a six week block

Dog Training

This class is aimed at dogs and handlers with mixed abilities and experience to further their education. Although teaching in a group, the instructor will focus on the individual needs of the handler and dog.

Each session lasts 50 minutes.

Classes cover:

  • Sit, Down and Wait
  • Recall (including recalls when distracted)
  • Leave it!
  • Stay
  • Doorway manners (e.g. leaving the house)
  • Not jumping up at people
  • Waiting patiently
  • Play with and give up a toy
  • Confidence near roads
  • Desensitisation to objects
£60 for a six week block

Private Sessions

£30 for 1 hour at our training facility (£35 from April 2022)

Home visits start at £40 for 1 hour

Our training sessions are friendly and informal. We use positive training techniques. Outdoor classes will be held in all weather conditions.

COVID-19: The latest guidance allows a normal class size. This also means that more than one handler is allowed per dog.

  • All dogs/puppies must be fully vaccinated. A vaccination card must be shown.
  • The handler is responsible for training the dog.
  • A name tag must be on the dog’s collar to meet legal requirements.
  • No dog to attend if they are suffering from any illness including infection, sickness, diarrhoea, cough etc.
  • Bitches (female dogs) in season cannot attend.
  • No choke or check chains to be used in training.
  • Flexi leads are not to be used.
  • Wagilowe Dog Training is not responsible for illness, injury, accidental loss or damage to any person or dog during their time on the premises.
  • All poo to be picked up and taken off site by the handler.

About Us

My name is Kerri and I’ve lived in Winchester all my life. I’ve always had a huge passion for animals, whether rescuing cats, keeping horses and sheep or training dogs.

I’ve grown up with dogs in a house environment for over 40 years. I have been training dogs for the last 15 years; five years of which have included agility training.

The more I worked with dogs, the happier it made me feel and the more rewarding it became. It’s great seeing dogs learn and achieve what you want them to do.

Qualifications

  • Teaching Impulse Control (workshop)
